: In a major move to assess the ground-level impact of government schemes and public services, 30 secretaries and senior officials of the Odisha government will visit their assigned districts between August and October 2026.
The officials have been directed to review the implementation of various government schemes, development projects and public services through field visits rather than relying solely on departmental reports.
During their visits, the officials will inspect hospitals, Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs). They will also interact with patients and their attendants to understand the actual quality and availability of healthcare services.
The functioning of Anganwadi centres will also come under scrutiny. Officials will assess services provided to children and women, including nutritional support and other facilities.
Schools and hostels will be inspected to review teaching standards, student facilities and hostel management. Officials will also examine the availability of basic amenities and government services in every Gram Panchayat.
Drinking water projects will receive special attention. In cases where projects are delayed, officials will identify the reasons and inform the concerned departments for necessary action.
The review will also cover banking services, availability of bank branches, banking-related complaints and problems faced by people while accessing government services. The status of complaints received through public grievance hearings will also be assessed.
During the district visits, officials will review 29 key government schemes, programmes and outcome indicators.
As per the plan, officials will visit their allotted districts at least once every three months, with each visit lasting a minimum of two days. Following the field visits, they will submit detailed reports containing their observations and recommendations through a designated portal.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening field-level monitoring and ensuring that government schemes and welfare measures deliver their intended benefits directly to people at the grassroots level.
