AAP Removes Raghav Chadha as Rajya Sabha Deputy Leader, Sparks Political Row

Party Accuses Leader of Avoiding Key Issues, Chadha Hits Back Defending His Stand

Sudden Removal Triggers Debate
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has removed senior leader Raghav Chadha from the post of Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha. Chadha had been serving in the role since 2023, and his sudden removal has sparked widespread political discussion.

AAP Levels Strong Allegations
Reacting to the controversy, AAP’s national media in-charge Anurag Dhanda made serious allegations against Chadha. He accused him of shifting focus away from key national issues and concentrating on less significant matters.

Dhanda also claimed that Chadha was no longer acting as a “soldier” of party chief Arvind Kejriwal. He emphasized that AAP leaders are expected to fearlessly raise major issues in Parliament.

Accusations of Avoiding Key Issues
The party further alleged that Chadha failed to raise important matters such as the arrest of AAP workers in Gujarat and concerns over voting rights in West Bengal.

It was also claimed that Chadha refused to sign a proposal against the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), which added to dissatisfaction within the party.

‘Fear of Modi’ Allegation by Party
AAP went a step further, alleging that Chadha was “afraid” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and hesitant to speak against him in Parliament. The party said such an approach was not aligned with its core ideology of fearless opposition.

Raghav Chadha Responds
Responding to the allegations, Chadha defended his stance through a post on social media platform X. He stated that whenever he gets the opportunity, he raises issues that are often ignored.

He questioned whether speaking about common people’s problems should be considered wrong and asserted that he has not committed any wrongdoing.

Seeks Public Support Amid Controversy
While maintaining a relatively calm tone, Chadha said he may be silent but is not defeated. He also sought continued support from the public, indicating that he remains committed to raising people’s concerns.

Political Tensions Within AAP
The development highlights growing internal tensions within AAP, as differences over priorities and political strategy come into the spotlight. The situation is likely to have wider implications for the party’s functioning in Parliament and its public image.
