Bhubaneswar (Odisha Connect): A marital dispute has brought the Balangir Royal family back into the news again. In a letter to the Superintendent of Police, Bolangir, she sought protection and help from the Police to visit the Shailashree palace. She also suspects threats from the Balangir Royal family.
On June 2, Adrija, the granddaughter of former Prime Minister V.P. Singh, filed the first information report (FIR) against her husband Arkesh and his family, alleging domestic violence, in the Rajpur Police Station, Uttarakhand.
According to reports, Adrija Manjari is now in Uttarakhand and has sent a mail to the Balangir SP saying that she wants to come to the Balangir-based Sailashree Palace to take her belongings. She sought security, suspecting threats from the Balangir Royal family.
Adrija got married on November 23, 2017, and started staying in Dehradun after Arkesh lost the Balangir assembly segment in the 2019 polls.
While alleging that Arkesh and his family members were trying to oust her from her marital house in Dehradun, she also alleged that her husband conspired to kill her on May 13.
“After sending me divorce papers on September 8, 2022, Arkesh called my sister Richa on September 14 to ask us to vacate the house, she complained.
Arkesh had, however, refuted the allegations. “The allegations are false. The matter is currently subjudice, and I have complete faith in the judiciary,” he said, as per media reports.
