The Odisha government has discussed the construction and expansion of an alternative eight-lane road to Puri to ensure smoother and uninterrupted movement of devotees and tourists travelling from Cuttack and Bhubaneswar to the pilgrim city.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has placed special emphasis on developing wider roads and improving connectivity to Puri so that visitors can travel without traffic congestion. The proposal was discussed during a review meeting held at Lok Seva Bhawan to find permanent solutions to the growing traffic problems in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister reviewed the traffic decongestion plan for the twin cities and directed officials to take immediate steps to improve road conditions and major traffic junctions. He also stressed the need to strengthen the smart traffic management system.
The Chief Minister called for better connectivity between Bhubaneswar and the historic city of Cuttack while emphasising the development of surrounding areas into cleaner, more organised and aesthetically improved spaces.
Officials were also directed to repair roads and traffic junctions that are currently in poor condition without delay. The meeting discussed the development of major junctions and the construction of flyovers and overbridges at key locations to ease traffic movement.
Other measures discussed included strengthening smart traffic signal systems, expanding CCTV surveillance and taking strict action against illegal parking.
The government aims to ensure smoother traffic movement across Bhubaneswar and Cuttack while improving road connectivity for pilgrims and tourists heading towards Puri.
