BJP Begins Preparations for 2027 Assembly Polls

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has started strengthening its organisational structure ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. BJP national president Nitin Naveen on Thursday announced major changes in the party leadership by appointing new state presidents in four states.

The party has named new BJP presidents for Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Tripura.

New BJP State Presidents Announced

According to the announcement:

  • Harsh Malhotra has been appointed as the new Delhi BJP president.
  • Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon has been named the new Punjab BJP president.
  • Abhishek Debroy has been appointed as the BJP president of Tripura.
  • Dr. Archana Gupta has been appointed as the new Haryana BJP president.

The reshuffle is being viewed as part of the BJP’s strategy to strengthen its organisation before upcoming elections in different states.

Harsh Malhotra Replaces Virendra Sachdeva in Delhi

The BJP has appointed Union Minister Harsh Malhotra as the new president of the Delhi BJP unit.

Malhotra currently serves as the Union Minister of State for Transport. He replaces Virendra Sachdeva, who had been serving as the Delhi BJP president till now.

Party leaders believe his organisational experience and ministerial role will help strengthen BJP’s position in the national capital.

Kewal Singh Dhillon to Lead BJP in Punjab

With the Punjab Assembly elections scheduled for 2027, the BJP has appointed senior leader Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon as the new state president.

Dhillon has served twice as MLA from Barnala and had contested both the Sangrur Lok Sabha seat and the Barnala Assembly by-election on a BJP ticket in 2022.

Known as a prominent businessman in Punjab, Dhillon is also considered close to former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.

According to reports, people in Barnala often refer to him as “Vikas Purush” for his developmental work.

He replaces Sunil Jakhar as the Punjab BJP chief.

BJP Focuses on Women Leadership in Haryana

In Haryana, the BJP has appointed Dr. Archana Gupta as the new state president, highlighting the party’s focus on women empowerment and leadership.

She replaces Mohan Lal Badoli in the position.

Dr. Gupta has previously served as the BJP state general secretary and district president in Panipat.

Organisational Strengthening Ahead of Elections

Political observers believe the latest appointments indicate the BJP’s early preparations for upcoming Assembly elections and its attempt to strengthen grassroots leadership across states.

The party leadership is expected to continue organisational restructuring in the coming months as part of its broader electoral strategy for 2027.
