Chilling Eyewitness Account Emerges From Midnapore Shooting Incident

A shocking incident of gun violence has rocked West Bengal after the personal assistant of senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari was allegedly shot dead late on Wednesday night in Madhyamgram. The victim, identified as Chandranath Dutta (also referred to as Chandranath Rath in local reports), was reportedly attacked in a calculated and professional-style shooting carried out by unidentified assailants on a motorcycle.

According to an eyewitness present at the scene, the attack appeared to be a well-planned assassination executed with precision.

Eyewitness Describes Horrific Scene

Recounting the terrifying incident, the eyewitness said that Chandranath’s vehicle suddenly slowed down in the middle of the road when a motorbike rider approached from the left side and opened fire at close range.

“The attacker looked like an expert. He fired point-blank and escaped immediately after the shooting,” the eyewitness told local media.

The incident reportedly took place between 10:30 PM and 11:00 PM, barely 200 to 300 meters away from a hospital. The eyewitness further revealed that not only Chandranath, but the driver of the vehicle was also hit during the firing. Local residents and bystanders rushed both victims to the hospital immediately after the attack.

Three Bullets Hit Victim’s Head

Reports suggest that around 10 rounds were fired by the assailants, out of which three bullets struck Chandranath in the head. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

The attackers reportedly fled the scene immediately after carrying out the shooting. Chandranath was considered a close and trusted aide of Suvendu Adhikari and had reportedly been working with him for nearly five years.

At the time of the attack, Chandranath was said to be present at a public location in Madhyamgram along with a few associates when he was targeted.

Assailants Allegedly Followed the Vehicle

Sources said the attackers had allegedly been trailing Chandranath Dutta’s vehicle before launching the attack. The firing reportedly began once the vehicle slowed down, indicating a possible pre-planned ambush.

The driver, who also sustained bullet injuries, is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Following the incident, security arrangements outside the hospital have been significantly tightened as police launched an investigation into the sensational murder case.
