The brutal killing of Bhubaneswar-based YouTuber Rahul Maharana has triggered outrage across the city, as three of his close friends recounted the horrifying sequence of events that unfolded on the night of February 28 at GGP Colony in Rasulgarh.

What began as a casual evening among friends, they say, quickly spiraled into a deadly confrontation.

Night of Fun Turns Fatal

According to Rahul’s friends — Shiva, Babulu and Sachin — the group had gathered at the high school ground in GGP Colony, Bhubaneswar, for light-hearted conversation and relaxation.

They alleged that a separate group of three men nearby were consuming intoxicants. Tensions reportedly flared when one of Rahul’s friends used abusive language during a phone call, which was overheard by the other group. What followed was a heated verbal exchange that soon escalated into a physical altercation.

“It started as a word tussle, but within minutes it became a fight,” Shiva reportedly said.

Alleged Knife Attack

Babulu claimed that during the scuffle, one of the accused suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed Rahul. The injured YouTuber was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries.

The suddenness of the attack has left the community shaken, with many questioning how a minor dispute could turn so violent.

Three Accused Arrested

Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the murder and are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officials have assured that strict action will be taken and that justice will be delivered swiftly.

However, the case has taken a controversial turn following statements from Rahul’s wife.

Wife Alleges Pre-Planned Conspiracy

Casting doubt on the official version, Rahul’s wife has alleged that the murder was premeditated and rooted in previous hostility.

“Why was there a knife when there was no feast or gathering that required it?” she questioned, raising concerns about inconsistencies in the investigation.

She further claimed that a young man wearing a white T-shirt carried out the stabbing, contradicting reports suggesting a minor was responsible. According to her, some of the accused had past disputes with Rahul and may have been settling old scores.

“They sat back after stabbing him and continued drinking,” she alleged, accusing the police of relying heavily on the accused’s version of events.
