India has achieved a major breakthrough in its fight against international drug syndicates and terror financing networks. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has seized ‘Captagon’ drugs for the first time in the country during a massive anti-drug operation.

Captagon is widely referred to as a “jihadi drug” because of its alleged links to terrorist organisations and terror funding networks operating in the Middle East.

In a post on social media platform X, Amit Shah stated that the busting of an international drug trafficking route connected to the Middle East demonstrates India’s zero-tolerance policy against narcotics.

In another major success, the NCB managed to bring back international drug trafficker Mohammed Salim Dola from Turkey.

Based on Indian intelligence inputs and an Interpol Red Corner Notice, Turkish authorities detained the 58-year-old accused on April 25.

Abduction During Evening Return
In a shocking incident, Berhampur-based land trader Sudhir Patra was allegedly kidnapped on the evening of the 15th of this month while returning home after playing volleyball. Soon after the abduction, the kidnappers contacted his wife and demanded a ransom of Rs 2 crore for his release.

Disturbing Videos Sent to Family
The accused reportedly sent disturbing videos to Patra’s wife, showing him being beaten, with a gun pointed at his head. The videos also included blank firing to create fear. The kidnappers instructed the family to bring money to a specific location.

Ransom Attempt Fails Amid Police Tracking
Patra’s wife reportedly reached Aska carrying cash and gold as instructed. However, the kidnappers did not appear, as they allegedly came to know that the police were tracking her movements. After this, all communication from the kidnappers stopped.

Murder Suspected Over Property Dispute
The case has taken a new turn, with suspicion that the kidnapping and murder were linked to a property dispute. It is reported that Patra had ongoing conflicts with his nephew and niece over the division of family property.

Body Recovered from Forest Area
On Wednesday, a dead body was recovered from the Sorada forest area, which was later identified as Sudhir Patra. This confirmed fears that he had been killed.

Police Intensify Investigation
Berhampur police have formed seven teams to investigate the case. Around 8 to 10 people, including the nephew and niece, have been detained and are being questioned. Police are also checking phone call records to find links and evidence.

After the brother’s death a few months ago, disputes between the two families reportedly increased over land matters. Investigators suspect that contract killers may have been involved.

Interrogation Continues
Several suspects are being questioned at Gopalpur police station.
In a significant development, six police personnel have been arrested in connection with the Narsinghpur custodial death case, nearly a decade after the incident. Those arrested include a retired Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), three retired Home Guards, one serving Home Guard, and one Havildar. All the accused have been forwarded to court following their arrest.

The arrested individuals have been identified as retired ASI Bhagaban Sahu, Havildar Pramod Kumar Patra, retired Home Guards Bhikari Nayak and Yogi Nayak, and Home Guards Maheswar Debata and Dharmaraj Rana.

Background of the 2016 Incident

The incident dates back to December 5, 2016, when a complaint was filed at Narsinghpur police station. The complaint was lodged by Rebati, daughter of Chaitanya Nayak of Malisahi village, against her neighbor Saroj Senapati following a dispute between the two families.

Based on the complaint, police registered a case and went to the village to arrest Saroj. During the arrest attempt, a scuffle broke out between Saroj and the police, leaving both sides injured. Subsequently, another case was registered based on the ASI’s complaint.

Health Deteriorates in Custody

After his arrest, Saroj was kept in police custody. While in custody, his health condition reportedly deteriorated गंभीरly. He was first taken to the Narsinghpur hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for advanced treatment.

However, on December 11, 2016, doctors declared him dead, triggering serious allegations of custodial death.

Allegations and Compensation

Following the death, Saroj’s father-in-law accused the police of custodial torture, leading to public outrage in the area. A case was registered, and tensions escalated.

As part of immediate relief measures at the time, Saroj’s wife was provided a job as a Home Guard, and a compensation of ₹10 lakh was granted to the family.

Justice After a Decade

Now, nearly 10 years later, police have taken action against their own personnel in the case. The arrests mark a crucial step towards accountability and justice in custodial death cases, highlighting that even law enforcement officials are not above the law.

The case underscores the importance of due process and human rights protections within the criminal justice system.

In a shocking incident from Nashik, police have arrested Ashok Kharat, a self-proclaimed astrologer and former Merchant Navy officer, following allegations of sexually exploiting more than 150 women under the guise of spiritual rituals.

The accused, also known as “Captain,” was taken into custody earlier this month after a woman filed a complaint alleging repeated sexual assault over a period of three years.

Multiple FIRs Filed as More Victims Come Forward

What began as a single complaint has now escalated into a large-scale investigation, with multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) registered against the 67-year-old accused. Victims have alleged rape, coercion, and drugging during so-called spiritual rituals.

Police officials believe the number of victims may increase as more women continue to come forward.

Evidence Seized During Raids

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) and Crime Branch conducted raids at Kharat’s office and properties, including the OAKS Property office at Canada Corner.

Authorities have reportedly recovered:

A pen drive containing obscene videos

CCTV footage from his office

Severed hair strands of women

Objectionable books and ritual-related items

Officials say forensic analysis is underway to examine the recovered evidence.

Manipulation Through Superstition and Fear

Investigators allege that Kharat used psychological techniques such as “hot and cold reading” to manipulate victims. He reportedly posed as a siddha purush and claimed to solve personal and marital issues through rituals.

He is also accused of threatening victims, warning them of harm to their families if they disobeyed his demands.

Bizarre Behavior During Interrogation

During police interrogation, the accused reportedly exhibited unusual behavior, including chanting mantras. In a startling statement, he allegedly confessed that his conscience had failed him, indicating a possible acknowledgment of wrongdoing.

Health Issues and Medical Background

Officials revealed that Kharat had suffered a paralysis stroke around 18 months ago, allegedly linked to an overdose of aphrodisiac substances. His health condition was reportedly stabilized by a devotee who is a medical professional.

Authorities also conducted an HIV test on the accused, which returned negative.

Ongoing Investigation and Public Reaction

The case has sent shockwaves across Maharashtra, with more women coming forward to report similar experiences. Police are now investigating potential links to financial irregularities, land dealings, and other accomplices.

The accused remains in police custody until March 29, while investigations continue.

Warning Against Blind Faith Exploitation

The incident highlights the dangers of blind faith and the exploitation of vulnerable individuals by self-proclaimed godmen. Authorities are urging victims to speak up and assist in the ongoing investigation.

Conclusion

The Nashik case serves as a stark reminder of how superstition and manipulation can be misused for personal gain. With multiple victims and serious allegations under investigation, authorities are working to uncover the full extent of the crime and ensure justice for the survivors.

The brutal killing of Bhubaneswar-based YouTuber Rahul Maharana has triggered outrage across the city, as three of his close friends recounted the horrifying sequence of events that unfolded on the night of February 28 at GGP Colony in Rasulgarh.

What began as a casual evening among friends, they say, quickly spiraled into a deadly confrontation.

Night of Fun Turns Fatal

According to Rahul’s friends — Shiva, Babulu and Sachin — the group had gathered at the high school ground in GGP Colony, Bhubaneswar, for light-hearted conversation and relaxation.

They alleged that a separate group of three men nearby were consuming intoxicants. Tensions reportedly flared when one of Rahul’s friends used abusive language during a phone call, which was overheard by the other group. What followed was a heated verbal exchange that soon escalated into a physical altercation.

“It started as a word tussle, but within minutes it became a fight,” Shiva reportedly said.

Alleged Knife Attack

Babulu claimed that during the scuffle, one of the accused suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed Rahul. The injured YouTuber was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries.

The suddenness of the attack has left the community shaken, with many questioning how a minor dispute could turn so violent.

Three Accused Arrested

Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the murder and are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officials have assured that strict action will be taken and that justice will be delivered swiftly.

However, the case has taken a controversial turn following statements from Rahul’s wife.

Wife Alleges Pre-Planned Conspiracy

Casting doubt on the official version, Rahul’s wife has alleged that the murder was premeditated and rooted in previous hostility.

“Why was there a knife when there was no feast or gathering that required it?” she questioned, raising concerns about inconsistencies in the investigation.

She further claimed that a young man wearing a white T-shirt carried out the stabbing, contradicting reports suggesting a minor was responsible. According to her, some of the accused had past disputes with Rahul and may have been settling old scores.

“They sat back after stabbing him and continued drinking,” she alleged, accusing the police of relying heavily on the accused’s version of events.

Public Outrage and Demand for Fair Probe

The murder has sparked anger among local residents, with growing calls for a thorough and impartial investigation into the motives behind the crime.

As investigations continue, authorities face mounting pressure to address the allegations of a possible conspiracy and ensure that all angles of the case are examined.

The tragic death of Rahul Maharana has not only devastated his family and friends but also reignited concerns over rising violence and public safety in the city.

A sensational murder case has sent shockwaves through Bhubaneswar after a young beauty parlour worker, identified as Liza, was accused of killing her lover, a taxi driver, in what police describe as a disturbing case of a relationship gone horribly wrong. The incident, which unfolded in a busy part of the city, has sparked intense public debate and curiosity.

Accused and Victim: A Complicated Relationship
Liza, a native of Jagatsinghpur district, was reportedly in a close relationship with Satyabrata Pradhan, a married man from a nearby village. Pradhan was living a settled life with his wife and children, but investigators say he became deeply involved with Liza under circumstances that remain unclear. This involvement ultimately ended in his brutal killing, now at the centre of a criminal probe.

Police Probe Multiple Angles
As suspicion deepens, police are examining whether Liza acted alone or had assistance from her boyfriend or others. Investigators are also trying to determine whether the motive was emotional, financial, or linked to ongoing disputes. Officials said all possibilities remain open as evidence is being gathered and statements recorded.

Neighbours’ Accounts Add Dramatic Twist
Statements from neighbours have added a sensational layer to the case. Locals described Liza as charismatic and openly flirtatious, claiming she attracted attention from men across age groups. Eyewitnesses alleged that she was often seen sitting on her scooter in the mornings, smoking and interacting with visitors who arrived on foot or in cars.
“Her charm was hard to ignore, but now people are questioning what really went on behind the scenes,” said one neighbour, requesting anonymity.

City Grapples With Dark Love Story
The case has gripped the city, blending elements of romance, betrayal and violence. While social media buzzes with speculation, police have urged the public not to jump to conclusions and to allow the investigation to run its course.

Authorities Urge Calm as Investigation Continues
Officials have assured that the truth behind the murder will soon emerge. “We are carefully examining all evidence and witness statements,” a senior police officer said, appealing for calm amid growing public interest in the case.

Bhubaneswar police have exposed a shocking plot by local entrepreneur Gunguru Misra, who allegedly staged fake bomb and firing incidents at her own residence to obtain a gun licence. Three of her hired accomplices have been arrested, while Misra remains on the run. Police say she orchestrated the plan to project herself as powerful and influential in her community.

In a shocking revelation, Bharatpur police in Bhubaneswar uncovered a bizarre conspiracy involving 38-year-old entrepreneur Gunguru Misra, who allegedly staged bomb blasts and firing incidents at her own residence to secure a gun licence.
According to police sources, Misra orchestrated two fake attacks — on September 10 and October 4 — by hiring three men to simulate life-threatening situations that could justify her need for a firearm.

Three Accomplices Arrested, Weapons Recovered

The accused trio, identified as Debasis Mohapatra (24), Santosh Mahakud (25), and Chandan Nayak (27) — who also served as Misra’s driver — were arrested following a detailed investigation.
Police recovered a 7.65 mm semi-automatic pistol, one live round, a motorcycle, and an auto-rickshaw used in the staged crimes. The men reportedly confessed that Misra had directed them to execute the fake attacks to build a false narrative of being under threat.

CCTV Footage Initially Misled Investigators

On October 5, Misra filed another complaint alleging that “unidentified mischief-mongers” had assaulted her and threatened to kill her. Initially, CCTV footage appeared to validate her claims, but further scrutiny revealed the attacks had been meticulously staged.
Police later found that Misra had applied for a gun licence months earlier, suggesting a premeditated plan to fabricate evidence of danger.

Motive: Desire for Power and Influence

Speaking on the matter, Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh stated that Misra’s primary motive was to “display power and influence” in her social and business circles.
“She wanted to appear as someone important and feared in the area. We have also received complaints of her blackmailing others under the guise of being a powerful businesswoman,” Singh said.

Manhunt Intensifies for the Mastermind

While the three accomplices remain in custody, Misra herself is absconding. The Commissionerate Police have launched an intensive manhunt to trace her whereabouts.
The case has caused shockwaves across Bhubaneswar, not only for its audacity but also for exposing serious flaws in the firearm licensing process, where manipulated evidence could potentially influence approvals.

A Stark Reminder for Law Enforcement

The incident underscores the need for stricter scrutiny and verification during the firearm licensing process. Misra’s elaborate ruse — involving weapons, fake assaults, and falsified complaints — highlights how the system can be exploited by individuals seeking undue privileges under false pretences.
