The resignation of Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jagmohan Meena has been accepted by the Central Government. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued a notification confirming the acceptance of the resignation of the 2023-batch Odisha cadre IPS officer.
Meena had submitted his resignation on July 6. Following this, the Odisha Government had forwarded his resignation to the Ministry of Home Affairs with its recommendation.
Originally from Rajasthan, Jagmohan Meena has had a notable career in the police service. Before joining the IPS, he pursued higher education at IIT Kanpur, where he obtained B.Tech and M.Tech degrees in Aerospace Engineering.
During his service in Odisha, Meena served in several important positions. He worked as DCP of both Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and also served as Superintendent of Police (SP) in Angul, Ganjam and the Maoist-affected district of Malkangiri.
While serving as SP of Malkangiri in 2019, Meena played a significant role in anti-Naxal operations. He was subsequently awarded the Police Medal for Gallantry in recognition of his service.
According to reports, Meena is set to move on from government service and pursue opportunities in the private sector. There is speculation that he may join a company associated with a close relative in Rajasthan.
With the Centre formally accepting his resignation, Jagmohan Meena’s tenure as an IPS officer in the Odisha cadre now comes to an end.
