In a significant move to bolster Odisha’s public administration and service delivery, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi distributed appointment letters to 1,248 newly recruited personnel across seven key state departments. The event took place at the Chandrasekharpur Rail Auditorium in Bhubaneswar on Friday.

Major Boost for Education and Health Sectors

Among the new recruits, the School and Mass Education Department accounted for the largest share, welcoming 826 new employees, while 178 personnel joined the Health and Family Welfare Department. These strategic appointments aim to address long-standing staff shortages in two of the state’s most essential public service sectors.

  • Skill Development and Vocational Education: 81 recruits

  • Commerce and Transportation: 63 recruits

  • Panchayati Raj: 49 recruits

  • Excise: 32 recruits

  • Labour and State Employee Insurance: 19 recruits

These hires reflect the Odisha government’s commitment to improving capacity across a range of administrative and service-driven departments.

CM Emphasizes Strengthening Governance

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Majhi underscored the significance of these appointments in accelerating Odisha’s development. He stressed that a strong and motivated workforce is crucial to achieving the state’s broader goals, particularly in education, health, and local governance.

“This initiative is a major step in improving public service delivery and addressing critical sectoral gaps. Our focus is on building a robust administrative machinery that can respond effectively to the needs of the people,” CM Majhi said.

Part of Larger Employment and Governance Reform Drive

The large-scale recruitment is part of Odisha’s wider strategy to fill essential vacancies and reduce unemployment. The state has been actively working to strengthen governance structures and improve service delivery, especially in under-served areas.

The newly appointed staff members will soon undergo orientation and departmental training to align with government objectives and performance expectations. This move signals a proactive approach to building institutional strength while creating job opportunities for qualified candidates.

Looking Ahead

With these appointments, the Odisha government continues to take concrete steps toward administrative efficiency and inclusive growth. As new employees integrate into their roles, the initiative is expected to significantly enhance the delivery of public services across the state.
