Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday attended the state-level ‘Angan Ka Utsav’ and the 9th National Nutrition Month celebration at an Anganwadi Centre in Baramunda, Bhubaneswar, and reiterated the Odisha government’s commitment to building a well-nourished state.
Addressing the gathering, Majhi said the government was implementing several nutrition programmes through Anganwadi centres and schools, while involving the entire family in improving the nutritional well-being of children. He stressed the importance of fathers and other family members participating in childcare, particularly during the first 1,000 days of a child’s life.
The Chief Minister said more than 46 lakh activities had been successfully conducted across Odisha during Nutrition Month. He also said Odisha had achieved the top position nationally in Aadhaar verification.
Majhi credited Anganwadi workers, helpers, ANMs and ASHA workers for contributing to improved child immunisation, institutional deliveries and the reduction of maternal and infant mortality in the state.
Highlighting women-focused initiatives, he referred to schemes including Subhadra Yojana, Lakhpati Didi, Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana and Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangal Yojana.
During the event, the Chief Minister distributed school kits to Anganwadi children and honoured fathers for healthy food presentations. He also felicitated Anganwadi workers, helpers and ASHA workers.
Majhi inspected the quality of the ‘Triranga Thali’ and hot cooked meals at the Anganwadi centre and served food to children.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida and other senior officials attended the programme.
