Ganjam Administration Bans Tourist Entry to All Beaches Till October 30; Nabarangpur Deploys 3 ODRAF Teams and 12 Fire Service Teams, While Malkangiri Appoints 4 Senior Officers for Cyclone Preparedness.

In view of Cyclone Arnab and the possibility of rough sea conditions and heavy rainfall, the Ganjam district administration has imposed restrictions on tourist access to all beaches in the district. Meanwhile, the administrations of Nabarangpur and Malkangiri have strengthened emergency preparedness to deal with possible flooding, waterlogging and other cyclone-related situations.

Tourist Entry Restricted at Ganjam Beaches

Tourists will not be allowed to visit beaches in Ganjam district from October 26 to October 30 as a precautionary measure against the approaching cyclone.

The restrictions cover popular coastal destinations, including Gopalpur and Sunapur beaches, as well as all other beaches in the district.

The administration has taken the decision due to the possibility of rough sea conditions under the influence of the cyclonic system. Visitors have been advised to comply with the restrictions and avoid venturing towards the coastline during this period.

Nabarangpur Administration Strengthens Preparedness

The Nabarangpur district administration has made extensive arrangements to ensure public safety and facilitate a swift response to any emergency arising from the cyclone and heavy rainfall.

The District Collector has reviewed the preparedness of various departments, emphasising coordinated action, rapid emergency response and the protection of lives and property.

Twenty-four-hour control rooms have been made operational at the district, block, tehsil and urban local body levels.

The administration has issued 06858-222434 as the emergency contact number for assistance.

Three Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) teams have been arranged for deployment in the district. Two teams will be stationed in Kosagumuda block and one in Nabarangpur block.

Additionally, 12 fire service teams have been kept ready with the necessary personnel and equipment. The administration has also identified 251 vehicles, along with drivers, to facilitate rescue and evacuation operations if required.

Four Senior Officers Assigned to Malkangiri

The Malkangiri district administration has appointed four senior officers to oversee cyclone preparedness and coordinate emergency response across different blocks.

The officers will monitor rainfall conditions, assess the risk of waterlogging and flash floods, and coordinate with Block Development Officers (BDOs), tehsildars and other departments.

They will remain responsible for taking prompt action to protect lives and property in their respective areas.

The administration is focusing on preparedness, interdepartmental coordination and timely intervention to minimise the impact of heavy rainfall and potential flooding.

Residents have been advised to remain alert and follow official instructions as Odisha prepares for the possible impact of Cyclone Arnab.
