Deputy CM Inaugurates New TPNODL Substation in Mayurbhanj

The new 33/11 KV substation at Deuli in Mayurbhanj will improve voltage quality and provide stable electricity supply to over 15,000 rural families across six panchayats.

Major Boost to Rural Power Infrastructure in Odisha

In a major step towards strengthening rural electrification in Odisha, TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL) has commissioned a new 33/11 KV 10 MVA Primary Substation at Deuli in Mayurbhanj district.

The facility was virtually inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo on May 8, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the region’s power infrastructure development.

TPNODL is a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha focused on improving electricity distribution services in northern Odisha.

Over 15,000 Families to Benefit

The newly commissioned substation is expected to improve electricity services for more than 15,000 families across six panchayats — Chuhata, Kanimahuli, Nuagaon, Jhaliamara, Alakuda and Deuli.

Officials said the project will help enhance voltage quality, ensure stable electricity supply for households and agriculture, reduce power interruptions and strengthen essential services such as education, healthcare and local livelihoods.

Residents in the surrounding rural areas are expected to benefit from improved reliability and efficiency in power distribution.

Deputy CM Encourages Clean Energy Adoption

During the virtual inauguration ceremony, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo said the new substation would not only strengthen the local power grid but also help communities move towards modern and sustainable energy solutions.

He encouraged consumers to take advantage of the PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana to reduce electricity costs and promote clean energy adoption across Odisha.

According to him, improved power infrastructure is essential for accelerating rural development and improving quality of life.

Reliable Electricity Key to Rural Development

Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr. Krushna Chandra Mohapatra highlighted the importance of reliable electricity in driving rural progress.

He stated that stable power supply serves as the backbone of development by supporting economic activities, healthcare, education and overall living standards in districts like Mayurbhanj.

TPNODL Reaffirms Commitment to Consumer Welfare

TPNODL CEO Gajanan Kale said the Deuli substation project is a strategic initiative aimed at meeting the increasing energy demand in the region.

He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to consumer welfare and strengthening power infrastructure across northern Odisha.

The project was supervised by senior TPNODL officials, including Chief Projects officer Pradeep Kumar Mohanty and Superintending Engineer Debadatta Panda, who ensured the substation was developed to high operational standards for stabilising the regional electricity network.
