A convocation ceremony for the 9th batch of DSP probationers was held at the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy on Monday. The event marked the successful completion of basic training for newly inducted officers.
DGP Yogesh Bahadur Khurania Attends as Chief Guest
Director General of Police Yogesh Bahadur Khurania attended the ceremony as the chief guest and took the ceremonial salute during the parade. He congratulated the probationers and encouraged them to dedicate themselves to public service as new pillars of the Odisha Police.
Five Officers Successfully Complete Training
A total of five DSP probationers from the 9th batch successfully completed their foundational training and participated in the convocation. The DGP expressed confidence that the high-quality training imparted at the academy would help them become responsible, capable, and professional officers.
Focus on Modern Policing Challenges
In his address, the DGP highlighted emerging challenges such as cybercrime and organized crime. He urged the officers to tackle these issues with courage, integrity, and professionalism. He also stressed the importance of implementing new criminal laws effectively and raising public awareness.
Steps to Strengthen Police Infrastructure
The DGP outlined various initiatives undertaken by the state government to modernize and strengthen the police force. These include the creation of new posts, ongoing recruitment drives, and the expansion of specialized units like OSSF, OISF, and ODRAF. Efforts to improve traffic management were also highlighted.
Commitment to ‘Service and Protection’
Reiterating the Odisha Police motto of “Service and Protection,” the DGP emphasized the importance of safeguarding vulnerable groups, including women and children. He urged officers to enhance the police’s image through professionalism, sensitivity, and good conduct.
Awards for Outstanding Performance
During the ceremony, meritorious trainees were felicitated for their exceptional performance. Srushti Pradhan was awarded the Governor’s Medal and Trophy for being the best probationer, along with top scores in indoor subjects and the NICFS Medal.
Sourav Ranjan Pradhan secured the position of second-best probationer and achieved the highest marks in outdoor training. Pankaj Majhi received the Director’s Trophy for outstanding performance in the AET course.
Dignitaries Grace the Occasion
The event was attended by senior police officials, retired officers, and family members of the trainees. The academy’s Director and Additional DGP (Women & Child Crime Wing), S. Saini, along with media representatives, were also present at the programme.
