Shri Parmeshwar Funkwal, General Manager of East Coast Railway (ECoR), took part in a high-level review meeting chaired by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu, to assess the progress of major railway infrastructure and development projects across the state.
High-Level Participation
The meeting brought together the General Managers of East Coast Railway, South Central Railway, and South Coast Railway, along with senior officials from Indian Railways and the Government of Andhra Pradesh. Officers from the State’s Revenue and Forest Departments were also present.
Discussions centered on strengthening railway infrastructure, enhancing line capacity, and improving connectivity to boost economic growth, passenger convenience, and freight movement.
Key Railway Line Projects Reviewed
Several important infrastructure projects under East Coast Railway came up for review. These included:

Doubling of the Kottavalasa–Koraput railway line

Construction of a fourth line between Kottavalasa and Vizianagaram

Third and fourth lines between Vizianagaram and Naupada on the busy Howrah–Chennai main line
The Vizianagaram–Titlagarh third line project, considered a crucial capacity enhancement link between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, was also discussed in detail.
Focus on Visakhapatnam Station Modernisation
The meeting also reviewed the major upgradation of Visakhapatnam Railway Station, which aims to provide world-class passenger amenities and modern station infrastructure. The project is expected to significantly improve the travel experience and accommodate growing passenger traffic.
CM Assures Full State Support
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the importance of close coordination between the State Government and Indian Railways to ensure timely completion of the projects. He directed concerned departments, including Revenue and Forest, to expedite statutory clearances.
The Chief Minister also assured full support from the State Government in matters related to land acquisition, clearances, and inter-departmental coordination, underscoring the state’s commitment to fast-tracking critical railway infrastructure projects.
