The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued a detailed directive for candidates contesting the Nuapada assembly by-election in Odisha’s 71st constituency, along with by-elections in seven other states. The directive mandates that all political parties and candidates disclose complete details of any previous criminal records. This move comes in line with Supreme Court orders, making adherence to these guidelines legally binding.
Key Directives for Nuapada By-election:
-
Political parties must publish the Form C-7 clearly through printed media, their official social media accounts, and websites within 48 hours of candidate selection.
-
Within 72 hours of candidate selection, parties are required to submit Form 8C (along with a copy of Form C-7) directly to the Election Commission of India.
-
The final date for filing nominations is October 20, 2025 (Monday), by which Format CA must be submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer, Odisha, for onward submission to the ECI.
-
The last date for withdrawal of nominations is October 24, 2025, by which Form 7A must be filed with the Election Commission.
-
All documents should also be submitted via email at camc-eci@eci.gov.in.
The directive warns political parties and candidates that failure to comply with these instructions will be considered a violation of the Supreme Court’s order.
