A 22-year-old man from Meerut, Mohammad Kaif, tragically died after his blood pressure reportedly surged to an extreme level while he was playing games on his mobile phone. The incident occurred at his residence in Khairnagar Gular Wali, near Delhi Gate, leaving family members and locals in shock.
Collapsed Minutes After Complaining of Headache
According to family members, Kaif was deeply engrossed in an online game with earphones plugged in when he suddenly complained of a severe headache. He began acting restless and uneasy. Within minutes, he collapsed.
His family rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors discovered that his blood pressure had spiked beyond 300 mmHg — an extremely dangerous level. The sudden surge reportedly caused a brain aneurysm to rupture.
Battle for Life at Safdarjung Hospital
As his condition deteriorated rapidly, Kaif was referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi for advanced treatment. Despite intensive medical care, he remained critical. After fighting for two days, he succumbed to his condition.
“It happened so quickly,” a family member said. “He was playing games, then complained of a headache. His blood pressure shot up, and we lost him.”
Doctors Warn About Ignoring Early Symptoms
Medical experts say such extreme blood pressure spikes can lead to life-threatening complications like brain hemorrhage or aneurysm rupture. Doctors also caution that young people often ignore warning signs such as persistent headaches, dizziness, or sudden discomfort.
While prolonged screen time alone may not directly cause such events, stress, lack of sleep, poor lifestyle habits, and underlying health conditions can significantly increase risk.
Growing Concern Over Excessive Screen Time
Kaif’s death has sparked conversations in the community about excessive screen time and gaming addiction among youth. Health professionals stress the importance of balanced digital habits, regular medical check-ups, and paying attention to unusual physical symptoms.
A Stark Reminder for Young People
The tragic incident serves as a sobering reminder that virtual entertainment should not come at the cost of physical health. Experts advise limiting continuous screen exposure, taking frequent breaks, staying hydrated, and seeking medical attention immediately if severe symptoms appear.
For now, local authorities have not issued an official statement. But the loss of a young life has raised urgent questions about lifestyle habits and health awareness among today’s generation.
