If you are planning to buy gold or silver today, it is important to check the latest available rates first. Since today is Sunday, August 30, regular trading is not taking place in the domestic bullion market. Therefore, no fresh closing rates have been released, and buyers can refer to prevailing retail market prices.
In the latest trading session on August 28, both gold and silver witnessed a sharp decline. In the Delhi bullion market, 99.9% pure gold fell by ₹3,300 per 10 grams to ₹1,62,400. Silver also declined by ₹5,000 per kilogram to ₹2,45,500.
Gold Rate Today
According to retail market data for August 30, 24-carat gold is priced at around ₹15,824 per gram, or approximately ₹1,58,240 per 10 grams. Meanwhile, 22-carat gold is around ₹14,505 per gram, putting the price at nearly ₹1,45,050 per 10 grams.
Silver Rate Today
Silver prices have also remained volatile. Retail market data indicates that silver is currently around ₹2.45 lakh per kilogram, while 100 grams costs approximately ₹24,500.
Why Did Gold and Silver Fall?
The recent decline has been attributed largely to developments related to the US economy and a stronger dollar. Expectations of higher interest rates can reduce investor demand for non-yielding assets such as gold.
Internationally, gold prices fell by more than 3% on August 28, while silver declined by around 3.5%.
Over three trading sessions, gold in Delhi dropped ₹4,700, or nearly 3%. However, jewellery buyers should remember that making charges, GST and other applicable costs can make the final purchase price higher than the base market rate.
