Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Indian Railways has further strengthened inter-regional connectivity with the launch of several new Amrit Bharat Express trains. These next-generation trains are designed to enhance passenger comfort, safety, and operational efficiency, making rail travel faster, smoother, and more reliable.

Advanced Features for Passenger Comfort

The Amrit Bharat Express trains run on modern LHB rakes equipped with push–pull technology, ensuring improved speed and operational efficiency. Passengers will benefit from ergonomically designed berths, modern modular toilets, LED lighting, CCTV surveillance, and mobile charging facilities. These trains aim to offer a safe, comfortable, and affordable travel experience, particularly benefiting lower- and middle-income travelers.

Inaugural Runs of Three Amrit Bharat Express Trains

Today, Prime Minister Modi flagged off the inaugural runs of three new Amrit Bharat Express services:

  • Alipurduar Junction–SMVT Bengaluru Amrit Bharat Express: Departs Alipurduar Junction on 17th January 2026 at 13:45 hrs, arrives SMVT Bengaluru on 19th January 2026 at 16:50 hrs.

  • New Jalpaigudi–Nagercoil Amrit Bharat Express: Departs Rangapani on 17th January 2026 at 13:45 hrs, arrives Nagercoil on 19th January 2026 at 19:15 hrs.

  • New Jalpaigudi–Tiruchchirappalli Amrit Bharat Express: Departs New Jalpaigudi on 17th January 2026 at 13:45 hrs, arrives Tiruchchirappalli on 19th January 2026 at 14:15 hrs.

Two More LHB-Coach Trains Flagged Off

In addition, the Prime Minister also inaugurated two new LHB-equipped express services:

  • Radhikapur–SMVT Bengaluru Express: Departs Radhikapur on 17th January 2026 at 13:45 hrs, arrives SMVT Bengaluru on 19th January 2026 at 15:05 hrs.

  • Balurghat–SMVT Bengaluru Express: Departs Balurghat on 17th January 2026 at 13:45 hrs, arrives SMVT Bengaluru on 19th January 2026 at 09:40 hrs.

Odisha Benefits from Enhanced Connectivity

All these trains pass through Odisha under the jurisdiction of East Coast Railway, continuing the state’s benefit from the existing Amrit Bharat Express services, including the Brahmapur–Udhna Amrit Bharat Express.
