Continuous rainfall is expected to persist across Odisha as the southwest monsoon remains active over the region. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon trough at mean sea level is shifting southeastwards towards the northeast Bay of Bengal. Meanwhile, an upper-air cyclonic circulation extending up to 9.4 km above mean sea level persists over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh, tilting southwestward with height.
Under its influence, a fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal within the next 24 hours, which is expected to further intensify rainfall activity across the state.
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Bhubaneswar, has forecast that widespread rainfall will continue across Odisha till July 31.
Orange Alert for Four Districts Today
The IMD has issued an Orange Alert for Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Keonjhar, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall during the day.
Yellow Alert for Several Districts
A Yellow Alert has been issued for the following districts due to the possibility of heavy rainfall:

- Jajpur
- Kendrapara
- Jagatsinghpur
- Bargarh
- Sambalpur
- Deogarh
- Angul
- Dhenkanal
- Keonjhar
- Mayurbhanj
- Subarnapur
- Boudh
- Puri
- Khordha
- Nayagarh
Rainfall Warning for Sunday
For Sunday, the IMD has issued an Orange Warning for Jajpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj, where heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely.
A Yellow Alert has also been issued for Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Subarnapur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagarh.
Fishermen Advised Not to Venture into Sea
The IMD has warned that sea conditions along the Odisha coast will remain rough, and fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea till July 27.
Wind speeds along the Odisha coast are expected to range between 40 kmph and 50 kmph, making sea conditions unsafe for fishing operations. Authorities have urged fishermen and coastal residents to follow weather advisories and take necessary precautions.
