Mock Drill Conducted Ahead of Examination
A day before the NEET UG re-examination, authorities conducted a nationwide mock drill to assess preparedness and ensure smooth conduct of the test. More than 2.5 lakh security personnel will be deployed across the country, while a three-tier security system has been put in place to prevent any irregularities.
The examination will be held on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM. Over 5,000 examination centres have been set up across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad.
Over 22.78 Lakh Candidates to Appear
This year, around 22.78 lakh candidates are expected to appear for NEET UG. According to the National Testing Agency (NTA), question papers will be transported to examination centres under the supervision of district administrations, police authorities and escort teams.
NTA Director General Abhishek Singh stated that the agency is fully committed to ensuring a fair, transparent and secure examination process with zero tolerance for malpractice.
Enhanced Security and New Exam Guidelines
To strengthen security, all examination centres will remain under CCTV surveillance, while central security forces will oversee the transportation and protection of question papers.
Several student-friendly changes have also been introduced this year. The examination duration has been extended by 15 minutes to 3 hours and 15 minutes, allowing candidates sufficient time for biometric verification, attendance formalities and other procedures without affecting their writing time.
The number of rough work pages has been increased from two to four, with special arrangements made for left-handed candidates.
Mandatory Biometric Verification for Candidates
Candidates must carry valid identification documents such as Aadhaar Card or PAN Card along with a passport-size photograph. Biometric verification will be compulsory at all centres. Students have also been advised not to apply mehendi or any chemical substances on their hands to avoid fingerprint scanning issues.
Free Bus Services for Examinees in Odisha
To facilitate hassle-free travel for candidates, OSRTC and CRUT will provide free bus services on the examination day. These buses will operate from major railway stations and bus stands to examination centres.
The Transport Department has also appointed district-wise nodal officers and issued helpline numbers to assist candidates and ensure smooth transportation arrangements across Odisha.
