The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has sanctioned ₹10 crore in relief assistance for four districts of Odisha affected by heavy and prolonged rainfall triggered by the recent weather system.
The assistance has been provided to Nabarangpur, Ganjam and Gajapati in southern Odisha, and Jharsuguda in western Odisha. The funds will be utilised for relief and restoration measures, including assistance for damaged houses, crop loss and expenses related to relief camps.
District-Wise Relief Allocation
Of the total ₹10 crore sanctioned by the SRC, Nabarangpur has received the highest allocation of ₹5 crore.
Ganjam and Gajapati have been sanctioned ₹2 crore each, while Jharsuguda has received ₹1 crore.

Funds to Support Affected People

Southern Odisha was among the areas worst affected by the recent spell of heavy rainfall. Following improvement in weather conditions, the state administration has initiated measures to provide financial assistance to people affected by the rainfall.
Collectors Directed to Ensure Proper Utilisation
Along with sanctioning the funds, the Special Relief Commissioner has issued directions to the Collectors of the four districts regarding the utilisation of the relief assistance.
The Collectors have been instructed to ensure that the sanctioned funds reach eligible beneficiaries properly and that all assistance is provided strictly in accordance with the prescribed government norms.
The district administrations have also been directed to maintain proper records of expenditure. The Collectors will have to submit reports to the SRC detailing how and on what basis the sanctioned funds were utilised.
The latest allocation is aimed at providing immediate support to affected families and strengthening relief operations in the four districts following the heavy rainfall.
