Financial Boost for 8.5 Lakh State Employees and Pensioners
In a festive gesture, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced a 3% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for state government employees and pensioners, bringing the DA from 55% to 58% effective from July 1, 2025. The increment will be reflected in employees’ October salaries and pensioners’ payments, adding a financial sparkle to the upcoming Diwali celebrations.
Government’s Commitment to Staff Welfare
A government spokesperson described the move as a “Diwali dhamaka,” aimed at easing the economic pressure caused by rising prices. The hike benefits nearly 8.5 lakh state employees and pensioners, ensuring they have additional funds for festival preparations, including sweets, decorations, and celebrations.
Aligning with Central Government Measures
The state government’s decision follows the pattern of central government DA hikes, demonstrating Odisha’s commitment to supporting its workforce. By enhancing both DA and DR, the administration underscores its priority to care for public servants and pensioners, making the festival season financially brighter for families across the state.
Festive Cheer and Economic Relief
With this increment, Odisha employees and pensioners are set to enjoy an affluent Diwali, reflecting the government’s focus on welfare and morale-boosting initiatives. The additional allowance not only provides immediate relief against inflation but also reinforces a sense of appreciation for those serving the state.
