Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi returned to the state on Sunday after completing his five-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), highlighting major investment proposals and employment opportunities generated during the tour.
₹2.43 Lakh Crore Investment Proposals
According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the UAE visit resulted in investment proposals worth ₹2,43,162 crore, with the potential to create 6,18,725 direct employment opportunities. Including indirect employment, the proposed investments are expected to generate around nine lakh jobs.
The latest proposals have taken Odisha’s total investment pipeline to around ₹22.5 lakh crore, including investment proposals secured earlier.
52 Business Meetings Held
During the visit from September 8 to 12, the Odisha delegation held extensive discussions with investors and industry leaders in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The delegation conducted 52 business meetings, including six roundtable meetings and 46 one-to-one meetings, engaging with nearly 400 industry leaders and representatives.
A total of eight Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed, while 16 investment intents were generated during the visit.
Focus on Industrial Growth and Jobs
CM Majhi said the state government is focused on creating a strong industrial ecosystem so that young people can find dignified employment opportunities within Odisha after completing their education.
He said the government’s investment outreach, which began after the Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave in January 2025, has expanded to several domestic and international destinations, including Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Gujarat and Singapore.
Major Projects and UAE Engagement
During the UAE visit, important discussions were held with UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism and International Investors Council Chairman Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri and IHC Managing Director Syed Basar Shueib.
The government also highlighted efforts involving IHC and the Adani Group for 14 new projects in Odisha, including integrated aluminium projects proposed in Rayagada and Sundargarh.
CM Majhi said the government aims to build a prosperous Odisha by 2036 and transform the state into a $500 billion economy over the next decade. He also stressed skill development to make Odisha’s youth employment-ready.
The Chief Minister said the next priority is to expedite implementation of the MoUs and investment proposals so that projects can begin production and generate employment in the state.
