The Odisha Excise Department’s ongoing Enforcement Special Drive has entered its eighth day, delivering a major blow to illicit liquor and narcotics rackets across the State.
Massive Haul in Raids
According to official figures, contraband worth ₹1.21 crore was seized during coordinated raids. Enforcement teams registered 258 cases and arrested 147 persons for their involvement in illegal trade.
Liquor and Raw Material Seized
The operations led to significant recoveries, including:

10,362 bulk litres (BL) of illicitly distilled liquor

471 BL of duty-paid liquor

1,00,060 litres of wash destroyed (used in ID liquor production)

7,294 kg of Mohua flower

24 kg of Bhang

13 vehicles seized
NDPS Act Crackdown
In a parallel drive under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, officials booked eight cases and seized 347 kilograms of ganja.
Zero Tolerance Policy
Officials emphasised that these sustained operations reflect the Department’s Zero Tolerance Policy against illicit liquor and drug trafficking. The intensified drive across districts aims to dismantle illegal supply chains and enforce strict compliance with excise and narcotics laws.
Drive to Continue
The Excise Department confirmed that enforcement action will continue in the coming days with equal intensity, in line with the State Government’s broader goal of achieving an Illicit Liquor and Drug-Free Odisha.
