Odisha has received a major boost to its semiconductor ambitions with approval for the state’s second semiconductor unit. The proposal of M/s SiCSem Private Limited to establish a manufacturing facility at IDCO Infovalley-II in Arisol Mouza under Jatni tehsil of Khordha district has been approved.
The proposal was cleared at the 217th meeting of the Unit Approval Committee (UAC), held under the Falta Special Economic Zone (FSEZ).
The proposed unit will be established on approximately 21.889 acres of land and will manufacture silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductor devices, including SiC diodes and SiC MOSFETs.
The project is expected to attract an investment of around ₹3,406.25 crore and generate employment opportunities for approximately 1,270 people.
The facility is projected to have an annual production capacity of 48 lakh SiC diodes and 91.2 million SiC MOSFETs. The project will focus on advanced semiconductor manufacturing and is expected to strengthen India’s domestic semiconductor production capabilities.
The proposed facility is also expected to contribute significantly to Odisha’s export potential. An export turnover of around ₹7,043 crore is estimated over the next five years, while the project is expected to generate approximately ₹4,523 crore in Net Foreign Exchange (NFE) earnings during the same period.
The approval of the SiCSem project is expected to further strengthen Odisha’s position as an emerging hub for semiconductor and advanced technology manufacturing.
With increased investment, high-tech manufacturing, export potential and employment generation, the project is likely to create new opportunities for Odisha’s industrial and technology ecosystem while contributing to the growth of India’s semiconductor sector.
