A high-level review meeting was held to expedite the repair and restoration of 1,658 lift irrigation projects under the Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation (OLIC), particularly those affected by prolonged rainfall and flood conditions.
Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Energy, Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari attended the meeting and held detailed discussions on the restoration of the affected projects.
Pujari stressed the need for field-level inspection of the damaged lift irrigation projects and urged officials to accelerate the required repair and restoration work. He also called for close coordination among the Energy Department, Water Resources Department and the Office of the Special Relief Commissioner to ensure timely completion of the restoration activities.
The Revenue and Disaster Management Department has been undertaking continuous efforts to facilitate the repair and restoration of projects and infrastructure affected by adverse weather conditions during the current year.
The Revenue Minister has also been regularly reviewing the situation and holding discussions with various departments to speed up restoration work in the affected areas.
The meeting was held at the office of the Revenue Minister in the Odisha Legislative Assembly. Energy Department Additional Chief Secretary Vishal Dev, Water Resources Department Principal Secretary Shubha Sharma, officials from the Office of the Special Relief Commissioner and senior officials from other concerned departments were present.
The review focused on strengthening inter-departmental coordination and ensuring that damaged lift irrigation infrastructure is restored at the earliest to support agricultural activities and farmers affected by the recent weather conditions.
