Odisha Police athletes have once again brought laurels to the state by delivering an impressive performance at national-level sporting events. A total of 12 athletes from the force won medals in various disciplines, earning recognition for their achievements.
To honour their success, Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania felicitated the medal winners during a special ceremony held at the Commissionerate Police Headquarters in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
The athletes represented Odisha Police at the 11th All India Police Judo Cluster (2026-27), held at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad, from July 23 to 30, and the 5th Senior National India Taekwondo Poomsae Championship 2026, organised in Pune, Maharashtra, from July 8 to 11. Odisha Police teams competed in Wushu, Taekwondo, Karate and Pencak Silat, securing several medals across different categories.
Among the standout performers, Sashwati Nayak won a silver medal at the All India Police Judo Cluster and a bronze medal at the Senior National Taekwondo Championship. Satyaprakash Mohanty claimed bronze medals in both competitions.
In Karate, Bratati Biswaprabha Pati, Rajani Bishi, D. Bhagaban Reddy and Ritesh Ray secured silver medals in individual Kumite events. Yogesh Bariha and Bratati Biswaprabha Pati also won bronze medals in individual categories. Odisha Police’s women’s Karate teams added more success by winning bronze medals in the Team Kumite and Team Kata events.
Congratulating the athletes, DGP Khurania praised their dedication, discipline and outstanding performances, saying their achievements have enhanced the reputation of both Odisha Police and the state. He expressed confidence that they would continue to excel in future national competitions.
As a token of appreciation, the DGP presented cash incentives of ₹4,000 to each silver medallist and ₹3,000 to each bronze medallist.
The felicitation ceremony was attended by Additional DGP (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner Dr. Dev Datta Singh, and other senior police officials. Sports Officer Neel Madhab Swain coordinated the event.
