Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has stressed the need for joint funding by the Centre and the state to strengthen agricultural infrastructure, including transportation, cold storage and warehousing facilities.
Speaking to the media after returning from a two-day New Delhi visit, Majhi said the issue was discussed at a conference of state finance ministers chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The meeting focused on ensuring adequate financial resources to achieve the goal of a developed India.
The Chief Minister also highlighted Odisha’s transition from conventional energy generation towards clean energy. He called for viability gap funding and multilateral partnerships to support the state’s energy infrastructure.
Majhi also spoke about Odisha’s participation in Semicon India 2026. He said the state received investment proposals worth around ₹23,600 crore in the semiconductor and advanced technology sectors, with more than 6,000 direct jobs expected to be created.
The state has approved the third amendment to its semiconductor policy to promote semiconductor industries. A decision has also been taken to establish the Odisha Silicon Valley at Naraj in Cuttack over 870 acres as a global semiconductor manufacturing hub.
A ₹452-crore National Industry Co-Development Hub on Integrated Power Electronics has also been approved in collaboration with IIT Bhubaneswar, including a ₹125-crore contribution from the Odisha government.
During Semicon India 2026, Odisha held one-to-one meetings with 18 companies, roundtable discussions with five firms and signed letters of intent with three companies, including QuadQuantum for silicon carbide substrate wafer manufacturing.
