Acclaimed Odia playback singer Humane Sagar, whose melodious voice won millions of hearts across Odisha, is no more. His passing marks a profound loss to the Odia music industry and to fans who cherished his powerful, emotional singing.
A Voice That Defined an Era
Humane Sagar emerged as one of Odisha’s most celebrated singers, creating a unique space in the hearts of music lovers through his soulful voice and heartfelt renditions. His songs became an essential part of Odia music over the past decade, earning him widespread popularity and love.
Health Deterioration and Hospitalisation
The singer had been unwell for several days. Initially, he was admitted to a private medical facility in Cuttack as his condition worsened. On 14th November, he was shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for advanced treatment after his health deteriorated further.
Doctors had earlier confirmed that Humane Sagar was suffering from multi-organ failure. He had also been diagnosed with liver cirrhosis, a chronic condition that severely affects the liver’s ability to function. Despite medical efforts, he passed away while undergoing treatment.

Liver cirrhosis is a long-term disease in which healthy liver cells gradually deteriorate and are replaced by scar tissue, known as fibrosis.

Brief Signs of Improvement Before the End
Just a day before his demise, doctors had reported slight improvement in his consciousness level. They also said that the next 48 hours would be crucial. However, his condition worsened again, leading to his critical admission to AIIMS where he ultimately breathed his last.
Visits from Public Figures
Actor Anubhav Mohanty visited Humane Sagar at AIIMS Bhubaneswar on Sunday. After interacting with the medical team, he said the singer was responding slightly, expressing hope despite acknowledging the seriousness of the situation.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi also enquired about his health and stated that if necessary, arrangements would be made to airlift the singer to Delhi for further treatment.
