Odisha Tourism Unveils New Tagline “Think India, Think Odisha” to Boost Global Appeal

State launches global tourism campaign and international coastal marathon to boost Odisha’s identity as a leading experiential destination

Major Rebranding Push for Global Tourism Positioning
In a landmark initiative, the Department of Tourism Odisha has unveiled a new brand identity and tagline — “Think India, Think Odisha” — aimed at positioning the state as a leading global tourism destination.

Aligned with long-term goals such as Vision Samrudh Odisha 2036 and Viksit Bharat 2047, the move reflects Odisha’s transition from a lesser-known destination to a confident and competitive tourism hub focused on immersive experiences.

OMC Puri Coastal Marathon Announced
Alongside the rebranding, the government announced the launch of the OMC Puri Coastal Marathon (OPCM), a first-of-its-kind international sporting event designed to strengthen Odisha’s presence in sports and experiential tourism.

The announcement was made at Taj Resort & Spa in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, along with MLAs Om Prakash Mishra, Ashrit Pattanayak, and Sunil Kumar Mohanty, as well as Tourism Commissioner-cum-Secretary Balwant Singh and other stakeholders.

Odisha Emerging as a High-Performance Tourism Economy
Speaking at the event, Deputy CM Pravati Parida highlighted that Odisha is steadily evolving into a high-performance tourism economy driven by strategic branding, infrastructure growth, and enriched visitor experiences.

She noted that the new tagline reflects a bold and aspirational identity, inviting global tourists to experience India through Odisha’s unique blend of culture, spirituality, and natural beauty.

Ceremonial Run and Sand Art Highlight Launch
The launch event began with a ceremonial run from Blue Flag Beach to the Taj Resort, witnessing enthusiastic participation from fitness enthusiasts and locals.

Renowned sand artist Sudarshan Patnaik created a striking sand sculpture unveiling the official OPCM logo, symbolising Odisha’s cultural heritage and coastal vibrancy.

Marathon Scheduled for December 13, 2026
The first edition of the OMC Puri Coastal Marathon will be held on December 13, 2026, with a prize pool exceeding ₹1 crore, making it one of India’s most competitive running events.

The marathon will include multiple categories:

  • Full Marathon (42 km)
  • Half Marathon (21 km)
  • 10 km run
  • 5 km run

Participants will experience a unique route along Puri’s scenic coastline, including a 6 km stretch on golden sands.

Registrations Open for Global Participants
The official marathon website has been launched, and registrations are now open for participants from India and across the world, marking Odisha’s growing appeal in international sporting events.

Puri’s Cultural Identity at the Core
Globally known for the Jagannath Temple, Puri offers a rich mix of spirituality, culture, and natural beauty.

The marathon logo draws inspiration from iconic elements such as the Patita Pavana Bana of Lord Jagannath, the Konark Sun Temple wheel (Konark Chakra), and the waves of the Bay of Bengal—capturing motion, energy, and Odisha’s distinctive coastal identity.

A New Era for Odisha Tourism
With this rebranding and global sporting initiative, Odisha is set to strengthen its identity as a vibrant, experience-driven destination, aiming to attract tourists, athletes, and cultural enthusiasts from around the world.
