Odisha Vigilance has reportedly unearthed three multi-storey buildings, 19 valuable plots, a four-wheeler and two two-wheelers during searches at properties linked to Jayadev Jena, an Assistant Block Education Officer (ABEO) of Dharmasala block in Jajpur district.
According to information released by Odisha Vigilance, searches are underway at properties associated with Jena and his family members. The valuation of the properties and verification of financial investments are in progress.
Three Buildings Unearthed During Searches
The properties identified during the searches include a triple-storey building measuring approximately 4,300 square feet at Patrapada in Bhubaneswar.
Vigilance officials have also identified two buildings at P. Nuagaon in Ganjam district. One is a double-storey building measuring approximately 3,850 square feet, while the other has an area of around 7,100 square feet.
In addition to the buildings, investigators have identified 19 valuable plots in Bhubaneswar and Khalikote and Kodala in Ganjam district.
The Vigilance Technical Wing is assessing the measurements and market value of the buildings and plots. Officials are also examining gold jewellery and verifying deposits and other investments held in financial instruments.
The searches have also led to the identification of a Tata Nexon four-wheeler and two two-wheelers.
From Assistant Teacher to ABEO
According to the service details provided by Odisha Vigilance, Jayadev Jena, born on May 5, 1969, entered government service on August 25, 1987, as an assistant teacher under the rehabilitation scheme. He was posted under the District Inspector of Schools in Chhatrapur, Ganjam district, with an initial monthly salary of Rs 1,000.
Jena was promoted to headmaster on March 1, 2014, and posted at Kaniaribadi Project Upper Primary School in Chhatrapur. He continued in that position until his transfer to K. Barida Nodal Upper Primary School in Ganjam district on November 13, 2020.
On March 3, 2023, he was posted as Assistant Block Education Officer (ABEO) of Beguniapada block in Ganjam district. He was subsequently transferred to Dharmasala block in Jajpur district on November 30, 2024, where he has continued to serve.
Property Valuation and Financial Verification Underway
Odisha Vigilance is continuing its searches to establish the full extent and value of the properties and assets linked to Jena and his family members.
The final valuation of the buildings and plots, the quantity of gold jewellery, and details of bank deposits and other financial investments are yet to be determined.
