Odisha Utilizes 88% of WDC-PMKSY 2.0 Funds
Bhubaneswar, 03/10/2025 – Odisha has effectively utilized 88% of the funds released under the Watershed Development Component of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (WDC-PMKSY 2.0), a review meeting held today revealed. The progress was shared by Deputy Chief Minister Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo during a video conference chaired by Union Minister for Rural Development, Agriculture & Farmer’s Welfare Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Deputy CM Proposes Policy Reforms
Shri Singh Deo suggested policy reforms to enhance the unit cost of WDC projects, proposing an increase from ₹22,000 to ₹26,000 per hectare in plain areas and from ₹28,000 to ₹35,000 per hectare in hilly areas. He emphasized that these reforms would improve the productive potential of rainfed and degraded lands through integrated watershed management while strengthening community-based local institutions for sustainable livelihoods.
PM Dhan Dhanya Yojana Includes Four Odisha Districts
The Deputy CM also thanked the Union Agriculture Minister for including four districts of Odisha – Nuapada, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, and Sundargarh – under the Prime Minister Dhan Dhanya Yojana, part of the Aspirational Agricultural District Program.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, DAFE, Odisha Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Director of Soil Conservation & Watershed Development Shri Subrat Kumar Panda, and senior officers from the Department of Agriculture & Rural Development, Government of Odisha.
