Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday emphasized the need for greater reservation and participation of women in India’s democratic framework while addressing the Nari Shakti Vandan Conference in New Delhi.

He stated that women’s active involvement plays a crucial role in strengthening democracy and highlighted the immense contribution of women in nation-building.

Historic Decision Ahead in Parliament

The Prime Minister announced that a special session of Parliament will be held from the 16th of this month, calling it one of the most significant decisions of the 21st century. He described the move as dedicated to empowering women and fulfilling long-standing aspirations for equality and justice.

He added that India stands at the threshold of creating history—one that bridges past dreams with future aspirations and ensures that social justice becomes an integral part of governance and decision-making.

Nari Shakti Vandan Act to Empower Women

Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi said the Nari Shakti Vandan Act will ensure women’s empowerment, dignity, and democratic participation.

She noted that women are increasingly emerging as leaders in India’s development journey and are establishing a strong identity on the global stage. The minister credited the Prime Minister’s determination for turning decades-long efforts into reality.

Vision for Developed India by 2047

Highlighting the long-term impact, she said women-led development will pave the way for a developed India by 2047, aligning with the country’s growth vision.

Delhi CM Highlights Women-Centric Policies

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta praised the Prime Minister’s continuous efforts to empower women and drive national progress.

She said Indian women have witnessed a long journey of struggle to achieve equality and respect. Today, the country has entered an era of “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, and Beti Badhao,” reflecting a shift towards inclusive growth.

She also highlighted that several government schemes, including financial inclusion initiatives like Jan Dhan accounts, have helped bring millions of women into the mainstream economy.
