Slot Booking System Likely for Smoother Darshan at Jagannath Temple

New System Aims to Ease Crowd Management and Provide Relief to Devotees Amid Rising Heat

Plans to Streamline Darshan for Devotees
Efforts are underway to make darshan more convenient at the Shree Jagannath Temple. A new slot booking system is likely to be introduced soon, allowing devotees to visit the temple at a pre-scheduled time. Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan stated that both the traditional queue system and slot-based darshan will be implemented simultaneously.

Slot Booking to Ensure Timely Darshan
The proposed system aims to enable devotees to have darshan of Lord Jagannath at their allotted time through prior booking. A dedicated holding area will be created where devotees can wait before entering the temple as per their scheduled slots. Initially, the system will be introduced on a trial basis after discussions with the temple administration and approval from the managing committee.

Infrastructure Improvements in Progress
Authorities are also focusing on improving infrastructure within the temple premises. Air conditioning work at the Nat Mandap is expected to begin soon. Additionally, a ramp system for orderly queue-based darshan will be implemented to manage large crowds more efficiently.

Capacity to Accommodate Thousands of Devotees
According to officials, the temple will be able to facilitate darshan for approximately 4,500 to 5,000 devotees at a time. Multiple measures are being planned to ensure a smoother and more organized experience for pilgrims visiting the shrine.

Devotees Raise Concerns Over Heat Conditions
With rising temperatures in April, devotees have expressed concern over the intense heat and humidity. Many have suggested improving shade arrangements near the temple to ensure safety and comfort, especially for elderly visitors, women, and children.

Demand for Better Shelter Facilities
Currently, the sheds at the four gates of the temple are considered insufficient, forcing many devotees to stand under the scorching sun. Reports indicate that some visitors have even fallen ill or fainted due to extreme heat. There is a growing demand for additional shaded areas and resting facilities around the temple premises.

Call for Better Crowd Management
Devotees believe that if proper and disciplined darshan arrangements are implemented inside the Nat Mandap, the overall system can function more efficiently. Authorities are now working on multiple strategies to enhance crowd management and ensure a safer, more comfortable experience for all visitors.
