Vice-captain of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team, Smriti Mandhana, received some relief as her father, Srinivas Mandhana, was discharged from a private hospital in the city on Tuesday evening. He had been under observation for three days following a sudden health scare.
Family Rushes to Hospital Amid Health Scare
The 33-year-old cricket star flew back from Mumbai on Saturday after hearing of her father’s sudden illness. Srinivas Mandhana reportedly experienced chest pain and discomfort, prompting immediate hospitalisation. The medical team conducted a series of tests, including a full cardiac examination, and later cleared him.
A family friend confirmed:
“Currently, he is in good health and is at home, resting. Doctors have advised routine check-ups but reassured the family that there is nothing to worry about.”
Smriti Mandhana by Her Father’s Side
During her father’s hospital stay, Smriti was by his side and temporarily missed promotional events and cricket practice sessions. She was seen leaving the hospital with a relieved smile, expressing her priority on her father’s well-being.
Wedding Rumours Continue Amid Health Concerns
The incident coincided with rampant speculation on social media about Smriti’s impending wedding to her long-time boyfriend, Bengaluru-based musician Palash Muchhal. Neither Smriti nor her family has confirmed the reports.
When asked about wedding plans at the hospital, Smriti replied with a chuckle:
“Papa’s health is what really matters to me at the moment. Everything else can be postponed.”
