Southwest Monsoon Advances; Thunderstorm Alerts Issued Across Odisha

Kalbaisakhi Likely to Bring Relief as Monsoon Advances Towards Odisha

The southwest monsoon is steadily advancing, and weather conditions remain favourable for its further progress into various parts of the Bay of Bengal over the next two to three days. Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation remains active over South Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining areas of Jharkhand and Odisha, influencing weather conditions across the state.

Day Temperature Likely to Rise

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, maximum daytime temperatures across Odisha are expected to increase by 2°C to 4°C over the next five days. However, the mercury is likely to remain around 39°C in most places, preventing the return of severe heatwave conditions.

Relief from Intense Heat Expected

Weather experts have indicated that compared to previous weeks, people are likely to experience relatively less heat and humidity. The occurrence of Kalbaisakhi (nor’wester) thunderstorms is expected to provide much-needed relief from the prevailing warm conditions.
