Security forces have launched an extensive search operation in areas near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district after a suspected Pakistani drone was spotted flying over the border region.
The drone activity was reportedly observed late Friday night near Behruti village in the Balakote area of the Mendhar sector. According to government sources, the suspected drone moved along the Mangnar-Dabrot axis before returning towards the Pakistani side.
Following the reported aerial activity, security forces deployed along the border have been placed on high alert. Authorities are also investigating whether the drone was used to drop weapons, ammunition or narcotics from across the border.
Joint Search Operation Underway
A joint combing operation involving the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and paramilitary forces has been underway since Saturday morning in the suspected area. Security personnel are conducting searches to determine whether any suspicious material was dropped by the drone.
The latest development comes amid heightened security activity in several parts of Jammu and Kashmir following intelligence inputs about possible terrorist movement in forested areas.
Search operations have also been intensified in the Udhampur-Kathua forest belt. In Rajouri district, security forces have launched searches in areas including Gaibass, Mithyani, Mogla and Narla after two suspected armed individuals were reportedly spotted.
The areas have been cordoned off as security personnel continue combing operations.
Authorities are maintaining heightened vigilance along the LoC and in vulnerable forested areas to prevent any possible infiltration, arms smuggling or movement of suspected militants.
