The Odisha government has announced a two-day postponement in the reopening of schools for the new academic session, moving the date from June 18 to June 20. The decision comes in response to the ongoing high temperatures and the transitional phase of the monsoon season across the state.

Safety of Students and Staff a Priority

In an official communication issued by the School and Mass Education Department to all District Education Officers (DEOs), the revised schedule has been implemented to ensure the health and safety of both students and school staff amid the challenging weather conditions.

“The new reopening date has been set as June 20 after assessing the current temperature and climate changes due to the arrival of the monsoon,” said a department official. “We have advised all district authorities to notify schools and parents without delay.”

Initial Reopening Was Scheduled for June 18

Originally, schools across Odisha were scheduled to reopen on June 18 following the conclusion of the summer vacation. However, intense heat in several regions and the onset of monsoon showers prompted the state to adjust the academic calendar slightly.

The department has urged school authorities and parents to remain alert for any further updates regarding the academic schedule.
