Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said the government is ready for a detailed discussion in Parliament on the student protests, amid continued disruptions and a standoff between the government and the Opposition.

Shah urged Opposition parties to participate in the discussion instead of disrupting proceedings, saying a debate would make it clear to the public who is genuinely seeking discussion and who is creating a ruckus.

The Home Minister said the government was prepared to answer all questions related to the issue and offered to begin the discussion at 3 pm, continuing until 3 pm the following day.

Shah Asks Opposition to Write to Lok Sabha Speaker

Shah appealed to Opposition leaders to submit a request to the Lok Sabha Speaker by 2 pm so that the discussion could begin at 3 pm.

He said he was prepared to remain present in the House and respond to questions until 3 pm the next day. According to Shah, there are established rules and procedures for discussing serious matters in Parliament.

The Home Minister also rejected the demand for a brief statement on the issue, arguing that a matter of such seriousness requires a comprehensive parliamentary discussion rather than a standalone statement.

‘Nothing to Hide,’ Says Amit Shah

Shah said the government had nothing to hide and was ready to place all relevant facts before the country.

He added that if the Speaker permits, Question Hour could be suspended to facilitate the discussion. He also said he was prepared to participate personally and respond point-by-point to the issues raised by the Opposition.

Shah challenged the Opposition to decide whether it wanted a substantive debate or continued disruption.

He said a detailed discussion would bring the facts before the public and allow people to judge which side was willing to engage in parliamentary debate and which side was avoiding it.

The remarks come amid continuing disruptions in Parliament, with the government and Opposition at odds over the handling of the student protest issue.
