Meta is reportedly developing a new generation of AI-powered smart glasses capable of continuously observing a user’s surroundings, remembering conversations, and identifying places they visit. While the technology promises to function as a highly advanced personal assistant, experts say it could also trigger serious concerns over privacy and surveillance.

According to media reports, the company is testing a new feature internally known as “Super Sensing.” Unlike current smart glasses, where AI features must be manually activated, the upcoming version is expected to operate automatically in the background. The glasses would continuously capture visual and audio information, allowing Meta AI to better understand a user’s daily activities and provide more accurate responses.

How Will the New Feature Work?

The proposed “Super Sensing” feature is designed to give the AI assistant long-term awareness of a user’s environment. By constantly analyzing what the wearer sees and hears, the smart glasses could answer questions such as what happened during the day, where the user visited, or what conversations took place.

The collected information would reportedly be processed by Meta AI to deliver personalized assistance, making the device significantly more capable than existing AI wearables.

Glasses Could Capture Photos and Audio Every Few Seconds

Reports suggest that Meta’s prototype smart glasses are designed to automatically capture images every few seconds while also listening to ambient audio. However, the company is reportedly not planning to permanently store the captured photos or recordings.

Instead, the system is expected to extract metadata from the collected content and upload only that information to Meta’s servers. This metadata would help Meta AI understand context and improve its ability to answer user queries without retaining complete visual or audio recordings.

Growing Concerns Over Privacy

Despite Meta’s reported claim that it will not permanently store captured media, privacy advocates have raised concerns about surveillance and user consent.

Meta has faced criticism in the past over its handling of user data and privacy practices. The company’s history with facial recognition technology has also drawn regulatory scrutiny in several countries.

One of the biggest concerns highlighted in the reports is that the “Super Sensing” feature is expected to function as an AI capability rather than a traditional photo or video recording mode. As a result, the LED indicator light—normally used to signal when the glasses are recording—may remain turned off while the AI is collecting environmental data.

Critics argue that this could make it impossible for people nearby to know whether they are being photographed or recorded without their knowledge or consent, raising significant ethical and legal questions about the future of AI-powered wearable technology.

While Meta has not officially announced the feature or confirmed its commercial rollout, the reported development highlights the growing tension between AI innovation and the protection of personal privacy.

The G7 Summit 2026 commenced today in Evian-les-Bains, France, bringing together leaders of the world’s most influential economies at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty. One of the key highlights of the opening day was the meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. President Donald Trump, their first face-to-face interaction in 16 months.

During the summit’s official group photograph, Prime Minister Modi was seen standing in the front row alongside President Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron, reflecting India’s growing significance in global affairs.

Focus on Global Economy, Ukraine War and AI

The three-day summit is focusing heavily on stabilizing the global economy, controlling inflation, and strengthening international trade networks disrupted by recent conflicts and post-pandemic challenges. Leaders are also expected to discuss the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, with Canada and several G7 nations proposing stricter measures against Russia’s so-called “shadow fleet” used for transporting oil.

India has also expressed concerns over rising tensions in the Middle East and the security of the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial global energy route. Discussions with the United States are expected to include coordinated strategies to address these challenges.

Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, climate change, and green energy transitions are among the summit’s top priorities. G7 leaders are working with major technology companies to develop global frameworks for the safe and responsible use of AI.

India’s Expanding Global Role

Although not a permanent member of the G7, India was invited as a special guest. Prime Minister Modi emphasized India’s role as a bridge between developed and developing nations and reiterated the concerns of the Global South.

Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stated that the G7 no longer solely drives global governance, highlighting the growing importance of countries such as India and Brazil in addressing international challenges and shaping future global solutions.

Carl Pei, CEO and co-founder of Nothing, has made a striking prediction about the future of smartphones—traditional apps may soon become obsolete, replaced by intelligent AI agents that handle tasks seamlessly in the background.

Speaking at the SXSW conference in Austin, Pei outlined a transformative shift in how users will interact with their devices.

‘Apps Are Going to Disappear’
Pei criticized the current app-based ecosystem as outdated, noting that it has remained largely unchanged since the launch of the Apple iPhone nearly two decades ago.

He highlighted how even simple activities—like planning a coffee meet-up—require juggling multiple apps for messaging, calendars, bookings, and transport. According to Pei, this turns users into “operators” managing unnecessary digital tasks.

“In terms of AI in software, apps are going to disappear,” he said, warning startups that app-centric models could soon face disruption.

Rise of AI Agents and Intent-Based Interaction
Pei envisions a future where users simply express their intent—through voice or text—and AI agents take over. These systems would handle everything from scheduling meetings to booking rides and making reservations without requiring users to open individual apps.

This “agentic” approach, he believes, will make smartphones more intuitive, efficient, and engaging, eliminating friction from everyday digital interactions.

Call for Developers to Adapt
Highlighting the need for industry readiness, Pei urged developers and companies to shift focus toward building robust APIs and integrations. This would allow AI agents to directly interact with services, bypassing traditional app interfaces.

He emphasized that businesses relying solely on standalone apps risk becoming obsolete if they fail to adapt to this evolving ecosystem.

A New Era for Mobile Technology
While Pei did not specify a timeline, his remarks signal a major shift in the future of mobile computing. As AI capabilities continue to advance rapidly, the concept of app-less smartphones is gaining traction among tech leaders.

With Nothing already known for its design-focused and user-centric devices, Pei’s vision adds momentum to the growing debate over how artificial intelligence will redefine the smartphone experience in the years ahead.

As India celebrates National Press Day, the nation pauses to acknowledge the unwavering spirit of its journalists—voices that illuminate truth, challenge power, and chronicle the heartbeat of society. In an age of rapid change and digital noise, the press stands as a steadfast guardian of democracy, reminding us that freedom of expression is not just a constitutional right, but the lifeline of an informed nation.

Across India, a silent yet powerful wave is sweeping through the young generation. From college classrooms to late–night hostel rooms, from cyber cafés to the smartphones hidden under blankets—there is one common addiction.

Artificial Intelligence.

ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Grok—and dozens of other AI tools—have become the new companions of today’s youth. To them, it feels as if technology has placed a magic wand in their hands. With a simple sentence, they can create poems, fix assignments, generate photos, or imagine themselves as superheroes.

But beneath this glittering magic lies an unsettling darkness—one that grows quietly, unnoticed, until it suddenly shakes lives.

The Dark World of Deepfakes

The fun turns frightening when harmless creativity becomes dangerous misuse.
Youngsters have started experimenting with deepfakes—fake videos and edited photos—thinking it’s just a joke.

But this joke has ruined real lives.

Girls have found themselves trapped in the nightmare of AI-created obscene videos—videos they never shot, faces morphed into situations they never imagined. Some cry silently, some hide in shame, and some fear stepping outside their homes again.

A technology meant for progress has turned into a weapon in the wrong hands.

Beauty Filters and Broken Minds

AI doesn’t stop at faking videos. It paints perfect bodies, perfect faces, perfect lives—so perfect that real life begins to feel imperfect.

On social media, flawless faces and dreamy AI photos flood timelines.
Behind the screen, however, thousands of young people compare themselves to these impossible images and begin to break from within.

Body shaming rises.
Depression grows.
Anxiety grips silently.
Some lose confidence, and some lose hope.

AI creates beauty, but it also creates pain.

Viral Trends and Invisible Risks

A few days ago, the internet danced to the “Nano Banana” trend.
People—teenagers, film stars, even politicians—rushed to upload their photos into AI systems to see themselves transformed into fantasy characters.

Before the craze ended, the Ghibli trend arrived, painting everyone in dreamlike pastel colors.

The world laughed, shared, and admired.
But underneath the excitement, experts whispered warnings—warnings that were drowned by the noise of viral popularity.

Is AI Stealing Our Faces?

Cyber specialists reveal a worrying truth:
Every time we upload a photo to these tools, we may be handing over more than just an image—we may be giving away our face identity.

This is the same identity used for:

Bank KYC

Face recognition in apps

Personal authentication

Government documentation

If these images fall into the wrong hands, fake IDs can be created, accounts can be opened, crimes can be committed—all with a face that looks exactly like you.

A frightening possibility.

Google’s Invisible Watermark: A Thin Shield

Google insists that every AI-generated image carries an invisible sign—SynthID, a hidden watermark that identifies it as AI-made.

But experts remain unconvinced.

“It can be removed easily.”
“It can be tampered.”
“It’s not enough to protect anything.”

The digital signature seems too fragile for a world full of smart criminals and clever hackers.

Are We Really Safe Online?

Some specialists argue that Google already stores millions of our pictures—Google Photos, Drive, Gmail—so privacy is already a fading concept.

Others believe this is different.
This time, AI tools are not just storing selfies—they are studying our faces, analyzing every angle, every feature, every detail. And once that information is out, it may never come back.

A Call for Protection

Seeing the rising chaos, responsible citizens request the government to bring strict guidelines for AI tools—rules that ensure safety, ethics, and privacy.

Because without rules, this powerful technology might do more harm than good.

So, Is AI a Gift or a Threat?

AI is a mirror—reflecting both our brilliance and our flaws.

It can help us learn, create, imagine, and grow.
But it can also deceive, manipulate, and destroy.

Whether AI becomes a blessing or a danger depends not just on the technology—but on how wisely we use it.

In the end, the real question is not whether AI is safe.

The real question is:

“Are we prepared to use it responsibly?”

Subrahmanyan, Chairman and Managing Director of Larsen & Toubro (L&T), visited the campuses of KIIT and KISS today, where he interacted with students and urged them to seize emerging opportunities in green hydrogen, artificial intelligence (AI), and the electric vehicle (EV) revolution.

Mr. Subrahmanyan was the chief speaker at Industry Symposium 5.0, organised by the KIIT School of Management (KSOM), where he shared his insights on the evolving industrial landscape driven by renewable energy, digital technologies, and sustainability.

Describing KIIT and KISS as “humongous campuses with a divine spirit rooted in peace,” he lauded the institutions’ role in transforming thousands of lives through education and empowerment. “Never forget the sacrifices your parents and teachers make for your education. Be humble, never stop asking questions, and remember — ‘Can do, will do, and will get it done’ must be your spirit,” he told the students.

Encouraging the youth to dream big and act early, he added, “Before you turn 35, kuch toh karke dikhao — achieve something significant.”

Recollecting his interaction with Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT and KISS, Mr. Subrahmanyan described him as “a small and humble man but an extraordinary personality who has built an incredible institution for humanity.”

In his wide-ranging and thought-provoking address, the L&T chief delved into the global megatrends shaping the future — from renewable energy and green hydrogen to AI and electric mobility. “Energy transformation is happening at an unprecedented pace,” he said. “We are building some of the world’s largest solar facilities in the Middle East and one of the world’s biggest green hydrogen plants. Solar and hydrogen are the future.”

He pointed out that countries like the UAE are setting benchmarks in renewable energy, with Abu Dhabi’s entire power system now backed by large-scale battery storage. “These are examples of what’s coming. India’s youth must prepare to lead this transformation,” he added.

Speaking on the AI and digital revolution, Mr. Subrahmanyan shared how L&T is integrating cutting-edge technologies into its operations. “We are using AI in microfinance to assess family income potential, and in infrastructure planning through drone-based analytics,” he explained, encouraging students to explore the vast possibilities offered by Industry 5.0.

The session concluded with an engaging interaction between the industry leader and students, who expressed enthusiasm about contributing to the next wave of technological innovation and sustainable development.

Among others present at the event were Prof. Saranjit Singh, Vice Chancellor of KIIT-DU; Dr. J. R. Mohanty, Registrar; Dr. Kumar Mohanty, Director, KSOM; and other dignitaries of the university.

The visit of Mr. Subrahmanyan, one of India’s most respected corporate leaders, added another milestone to KIIT’s legacy of fostering dialogue between academia and industry, inspiring students to become catalysts of change in a rapidly evolving global economy.
