Welcoming the Freshers

Baranaseya Utkal Samaj organised an orientation programme for new Odia students of the 2025–26 academic session at the Banaras Hindu University Institute of Science, Varanasi. The event, held at GS-1 Lecture Theatre, aimed to guide newcomers through university life while fostering a spirit of fraternity.

Inaugural Address and Introductions

The programme began with an inaugural address by Professor Gopabandhu Mishra, who set a welcoming tone. Following this, the freshers introduced themselves, naturally building a sense of camaraderie and fellowship among peers.

Academic and Campus Guidance

Several professors shared their expertise to prepare the students for BHU life:

• Professor Kalyan Ghadei offered insights on adjusting to campus culture.

• Dr. Amiya Kumar Samal explained the academic calendar, exam procedures, and study strategies.

• Professor Dhananjay Sahu spoke about health, wellness, and leadership skills, highlighting their role in personal growth.

• Dr. Rajib Lochan Behera shared practical hostel life tips based on his own experiences.

• Professor Pradosh Kumar Mishra guided students on grievance redressal mechanisms, ensuring they know where to seek help.

Inspiration from Senior Students

Senior students Anirban Parida and Binit Bharadwaj narrated their journeys at BHU, sharing stories of struggles and triumphs. Their experiences served as a source of inspiration for the newcomers, helping them visualise their own potential paths.

Closing and Acknowledgements

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Professor Saroj Kumar Padhi. The smooth conduct of the event was overseen by Subrat, ensuring its success.
