As 5G technology continues to gain momentum globally, recent reports highlight significant differences among countries in mobile data usage, 5G subscriptions and download speeds.

India’s growing demand for mobile internet reflects the widespread use of digital services, online entertainment, social media and other internet-based applications. Affordable data plans have played a major role in encouraging millions of users to consume large amounts of mobile data.

China Leads in 5G Subscribers and Network Reach

While India leads in overall mobile data consumption, China holds the top position in terms of 5G subscribers and network reach. The country has made substantial investments in expanding its telecommunications infrastructure, allowing a large number of people to access next-generation mobile connectivity.

China’s position highlights the importance of sustained investment in network infrastructure and the rapid deployment of advanced telecommunications technology.

Latvia Tops Monthly Data Usage Per User

In terms of average monthly mobile data consumption per user, Latvia ranks first globally, with users consuming approximately 52.7 gigabytes (GB) of data per month.

India follows with an average monthly consumption of around 37 GB per user, according to the figures cited in the report. The data indicates the growing dependence on mobile internet across countries, although consumption levels vary depending on network availability, pricing and digital habits.

UAE Leads in 5G Download Speeds

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) leads the world in average 5G download speeds, recording approximately 652 megabits per second (Mbps).

The achievement reflects the country’s investment in advanced telecommunications infrastructure and high-speed connectivity. Faster 5G networks support activities such as high-definition video streaming, online gaming, cloud-based services and other data-intensive applications.

Global Investment in Digital Connectivity Continues

Countries around the world are continuing to invest in digital infrastructure and emerging technologies to strengthen connectivity and improve network performance.

The latest figures underline how different countries are leading in different aspects of the mobile internet landscape. India stands out for its overall mobile data consumption, China leads in 5G subscriptions and network reach, Latvia tops average monthly data usage per user, and the UAE leads in 5G download speeds.

As digital services continue to expand, investment in reliable, affordable and high-speed connectivity is expected to remain a priority for governments and telecommunications companies worldwide.
