Fuel prices have increased once again across the country, marking the fourth consecutive hike in the last ten days. Industry experts have warned that petrol and diesel prices may continue to rise if the ongoing conflict in the Middle East persists.

According to Utkal Petroleum Dealers Association General Secretary Sanjay Lath, the international oil crisis triggered by tensions involving Iran, Israel and the United States has severely affected global crude oil supply.

Middle East Conflict Impacts Global Oil Supply

The continuing conflict in West Asia has disrupted crude oil transportation through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil transit routes. As a result, crude oil is now being transported through alternative routes via South Africa, increasing transportation costs significantly.

Sanjay Lath stated that fuel prices are unlikely to decline until the geopolitical tensions ease and normal oil supply resumes.

Fourth Fuel Price Hike in Ten Days

Petrol and diesel prices were revised upward again from 6 AM on May 25, 2026. In Delhi, petrol prices increased by Rs 2.61 per litre, taking the rate to Rs 102.12 per litre. Diesel prices rose by Rs 2.71 per litre, reaching Rs 95.20 per litre.

This is the fourth increase in fuel prices within a span of ten days. Earlier hikes were recorded on May 15, May 19 and May 23.

Overall, petrol prices have increased by Rs 7.35 per litre, while diesel prices have gone up by Rs 7.53 per litre during this period.

Bhubaneswar Fuel Prices Cross Rs 100 Mark

In Bhubaneswar, petrol is currently being sold at Rs 108.83 per litre, while diesel prices have reached Rs 100.55 per litre.

The sharp rise in fuel prices is expected to affect transportation costs and may further contribute to inflation in essential commodities.

Premium Fuel Prices Also Increase

Not only regular fuel, but premium fuel variants have also become costlier. In Delhi, XP95 petrol prices rose from Rs 106.63 to Rs 109.24 per litre. Similarly, XG fuel prices increased from Rs 97.81 to Rs 100.52 per litre.

Fuel prices have also increased in Mumbai and several other major cities, adding to the burden on consumers already grappling with rising living costs.
