Smoking Remains a Major Health Concern
According to official data, smoking causes around 80,000 deaths annually in the UK. Despite a significant decline since the 1970s, it continues to be a leading cause of illness and premature death.

Decline in Smoking but Challenges Remain
Currently, around 6.4 million people, or 13 percent of the UK population, still smoke. Although this is a two-thirds reduction compared to the 1970s, the health risks remain high.
