The National Informatics Centre (NIC), Odisha has been conferred with the prestigious “Excellence in Digital Governance” award for its flagship project DEPMOS (Directorate of Export Promotion and Marketing – Online Services), a transformative e-Governance initiative of the Government of Odisha.

Transforming MSME Services Through Technology

DEPMOS has been developed and implemented by NIC Odisha to digitise and streamline services offered by the Directorate of Export Promotion and Marketing (DEPM) under the MSME Department. The platform automates key processes such as MSME registration, rate contracts, inspections and related approvals, making services faster, transparent and more efficient.

Boost to MSMEs in Odisha

By moving traditionally manual processes online, DEPMOS has significantly reduced turnaround times and minimised procedural delays. The system has enhanced transparency in government procurement and marketing support, providing much-needed ease of doing business for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across Odisha.

Recognition at National Digital Conclave

The award was presented at the 19th Digital Transformation Conclave & Awards, recognising outstanding contributions in the field of digital governance. The honour underscores the growing role of technology in reforming public service delivery and governance mechanisms.

L.K. Padhi, Engineer-in-Chief and Special Secretary of the Works (Roads & Buildings) Department, Government of Odisha, has been elected as the Vice President of the Indian Roads Congress (IRC) — the apex professional body of highway engineers in India.

The announcement was made during the 236th Council Meeting, held as part of the 84th Annual Session of the IRC.

J. Mohan Naik Elected IRC President

At the same session, J. Mohan Naik, Engineer-in-Chief of the Roads & Buildings Department, Government of Telangana, was elected as the President of the IRC. The newly elected office bearers were announced in the presence of senior engineers, technocrats, and policymakers from across the country.

Recognition of Professional Excellence

Padhi’s election as vice president is seen as a recognition of his exemplary leadership and professional excellence in the field of road infrastructure planning and execution. He has played a key role in implementing major road development projects in Odisha and promoting innovative practices in engineering design and project management.
