Rainfall to Intensify From First Week of September

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a long-range weather forecast, indicating that rainfall activity in Odisha is set to intensify significantly in early September. The department has projected the formation of two consecutive low-pressure systems in the Bay of Bengal, which are expected to trigger widespread showers and possible heavy downpours across the state.

First Low-Pressure to Strengthen by September 3

According to the forecast, the first system is likely to develop over the north Bay of Bengal around September 3. By September 5, it may evolve into a well-marked low-pressure area. This system is expected to cause heavy rainfall in several districts of Odisha, particularly between August 31 and September 3, raising the risk of localized flooding.

Second System to Boost Monsoon in Mid-September

The IMD further predicted that another low-pressure area will form in the Bay of Bengal during the second week of September. This system is expected to enhance monsoon activity even further, prolonging wet conditions in both coastal and interior regions of Odisha. Meteorologists suggest that the back-to-back systems could result in extended spells of rainfall.

Advisory for Farmers and Authorities

The IMD has advised farmers, local administrations, and residents to stay prepared for potential waterlogging, flooding, and disruptions due to heavy showers. These weather patterns, officials said, are consistent with the broader monsoon dynamics that eastern India typically experiences during this season
