A Hyundai i20 car blast near the Red Fort has claimed the lives of eight people and injured several others. The explosion occurred around 7 PM on Monday, November 10, causing damage not only to bystanders but also to nearby parked vehicles.

Investigators have traced the vehicle’s entry into Delhi through the Badarpur Border at 3:18 PM on November 10. Law enforcement agencies are meticulously monitoring the car’s movements and route since it entered the city to piece together the sequence of events leading to the explosion.

Police and Forensic Investigation

The Delhi Police, led by North DCP Raja Banthia, confirmed that an FIR has been lodged at Kotwali Police Station. Forensic teams, along with multiple agencies, are actively collecting evidence from the blast site to determine the precise nature of the explosives and the method of detonation.

Link to Faridabad Used Car Company

Preliminary investigations have linked the car to a used car company in Sector 37, Faridabad. The vehicle had been sold to a man named Tariq from Pulwama. Authorities are tracing the vehicle’s journey and the timeline of its movement into Delhi.

Suspects Under Investigation

The probe has so far focused on Tariq, in whose name the car was registered, and his associate Umar Mohammad, who remains at large. Law enforcement agencies are exploring the possibility that both suspects may have terrorist connections, and that the vehicle was rigged with RDX or another high-yield explosive.

Joint Probe by NIA, IB, and Delhi Police

The investigation is being conducted jointly by the Delhi Police, National Investigation Agency (NIA), and Intelligence Bureau (IB). Officials aim to uncover the full network behind the blast and prevent further attacks in the national capital.
