Portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri Open on Akshaya Tritiya

The sacred Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand officially begins today with the opening of the portals of Gangotri Temple and Yamunotri Temple on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. Devotees from across India and abroad have started arriving to take part in the annual pilgrimage.

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Extends Wishes to Pilgrims

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami extended his heartfelt greetings to all pilgrims and prayed for a safe and successful journey. He expressed confidence that this year’s yatra would surpass previous records and bring spiritual fulfillment to devotees visiting Kedarnath Temple, Badrinath Temple, Gangotri, and Yamunotri.

Extensive Safety Measures Including AI Surveillance

To ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the pilgrimage, the administration has implemented advanced arrangements, including AI-powered surveillance cameras. Authorities are closely monitoring preparations at every level to provide a secure and seamless experience for visitors.

Government Aims for Safe and Memorable Pilgrimage

Describing the yatra as a major spiritual festival for the state, the Chief Minister said the government is committed to ensuring that every pilgrim returns home with “golden memories.” He urged all stakeholders—from sanitation workers to police and administrative officials—to perform their duties with dedication.

Temple Opening Timings Announced

The portals of Gangotri Temple will open at 12:15 PM today after special rituals. The temple will remain open for the next six months. Meanwhile, the Yamunotri Temple will also open today, with the ceremonial palanquin of Goddess Yamuna departing from Kharsali in the morning. The doors will open during the auspicious time window between 8:45 AM and 12 noon.

Offline Registration Gains Momentum

Alongside online registration, offline registration for the yatra has also begun. On the first day, 2,713 devotees registered at offline counters, including 683 for Yamunotri, 690 for Gangotri, 667 for Kedarnath, and 673 for Badrinath.

A Spiritual Journey Drawing Millions

Every year, the Char Dham Yatra attracts lakhs of devotees, making it one of India’s most significant religious pilgrimages. With enhanced facilities and security measures, authorities expect a record turnout this year.
