1. Odisha on Alert Amid Rise in Asian Covid Cases
Odisha is on alert after the rise in Covid-19 cases in parts of Asia, including Hong Kong and Singapore. The state health administration is closely observing the situation and has initiated discussions with the World Health Organization for risk assessment and preparedness. Director of Public Health, Dr. Nilakant Mishra, stated that there is currently no information about a new Covid variant. No special alert has been issued in India yet, but the state is in contact with the Centre and will act as per Central Government guidelines.

2. EOS-09 Satellite Launch Faces Setback
The launch of the EOS-09 satellite failed due to an obstacle in the third stage. Experts are analyzing the issue. The satellite, launched at 5:59 am from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, was intended to monitor borders and coastlines, particularly sensitive areas. However, due to the third-stage flaw, the mission was not fully successful.

3. India-Pakistan Ceasefire Talks Underway

9. Thunderstorms Predicted in 9 Odisha Districts
Thunderstorms and high-speed winds are affecting various parts of Odisha. The weather department has predicted thunderstorms today in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Balangir, Koraput, Rayagada, and Gajapati. Wind speeds may reach 30–40 km/h, with an orange warning issued for winds up to 50–60 km/h during Kalabaisakhi.

ISRO Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan said 10 Indian satellites are working 24/7 to protect the country’s borders and coastline. He made this announcement while addressing the 5th Convocation of Central Agricultural University (CAU) in Imphal.

“We must guard our 7,000 km coastline and the northern borders. Satellites and drones are essential for that. We can’t ensure national safety without them,” he said.

Operation Sindoor Sparks Stronger Tech Surveillance

India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025. The mission struck nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK. It came after terrorists killed 28 people in Pahalgam on April 22.

In response, Pakistan used drones and missiles. India’s defense forces intercepted and neutralized them. This exchange highlighted the need for real-time surveillance and fast response systems.

10 Satellites Monitor, Track, and Safeguard

Dr. Narayanan confirmed that 10 satellites are now dedicated to strategic use. These include Cartosat, RISAT, EMISAT, and Microsat. These satellites track enemy movements, provide imaging, and support border forces.

India has already launched 433 satellites for 34 countries. It currently operates 127 satellites in orbit. ISRO satellites for national security.

Dr. Narayanan said satellite technology does more than monitor threats. It saves lives during disasters. It supports telemedicine, education, weather forecasting, and TV broadcasting.

“Earlier, disasters claimed thousands of lives. Today, thanks to satellite alerts, we act faster and save more people,” he said.

He pointed to ISRO’s role in the Myanmar earthquake relief using Cartosat-3 images.

India Leads in Climate Tech Too

ISRO is building a climate-monitoring satellite for G20 nations. It will track air pollution, climate shifts, and weather patterns.

Dr. Narayanan said ISRO will keep expanding its global contributions and grow into a “vibrant space power.”

He added, “India will launch its own space station by 2040.”

India Guards Its Skies with Technology

Dr. Narayanan made it clear: space technology protects India. ISRO’s satellites are not just tools for exploration—they are shields for safety, disaster prevention, and global cooperation.

As tensions rise and threats evolve, India must invest in satellites, drones, and tech surveillance. ISRO stands ready.

“Without satellites and drones, we can’t secure our borders. They are our eyes in the sky,” Dr. Narayanan said.

India has become the first country to successfully land on the lunar south pole, achieving an impressive accomplishment.

India has made history as its Moon mission became the first to land in the lunar south pole region. With this, India joins an elite club of countries to achieve a soft landing on the Moon, after the US, the former Soviet Union and China.

Celebrations have broken out across India after the successful touchdown by the robotic lander which is carrying a rover in its belly. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the successful landing “a joyous occasion”. “We have reached where no other country could,” he said. Mr Modi was watching the event live from South Africa where he is attending the BRICS summit.

The Chandrayaan-3 Mission, coming four years after the failure of Chandrayaan-2 in 2019, has now put India in the company of the United States, the former Soviet Union and China, the other three countries ever to land spacecraft on the Moon.

The spacecraft had been launched on July 14 and was to land today. The descent began at 5.45 pm, with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) starting the live telecast at 5.20 pm.

With the success of Chandrayaan-3, India has become a space power with a proven track record. India’s space economy is expected to grow to $12.8 billion by 2025. Overall, countries have made 47 attempts at soft landing on the moon of which only 21, including Chandrayaan-3, have been successful.
