Odisha is experiencing light to moderate rainfall in various parts of the state due to the influence of the subtropical western jet stream over East India. The state is likely to witness intermittent showers and winds over the next five days. Some regions may experience rainfall for up to seven days, according to Dr. Manorama Mahanti, Director of the Regional Water and Climate Centre.

Recent Rainfall Events

On Monday, several districts of Odisha reported rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and showers. Mayurbhanj district saw widespread rainfall, including thunderstorms and showers, while some parts of Angul district also received moderate showers.

District-wise Rainfall Records

According to official data, Muruda in Mayurbhanj recorded the highest rainfall at 55 mm, followed by Betanati with 50 mm, G.B. Nagar with 44 mm, Balimundali with 40.8 mm, and Jashipur with 37.5 mm. Several other areas in the state also experienced rainfall accompanied by intermittent showers.

Weather Warnings and Alerts

Due to the possibility of thunderstorms and heavy showers in Mayurbhanj and Kendujhar districts, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for these areas. Citizens are advised to exercise caution and stay updated with weather advisories.

Temperature Trends

In the past 24 hours, the hottest city recorded was Jharsuguda at 40.6°C, followed closely by Hirakud at 40.2°C. Sambalpur recorded 39.9°C, Rourkela 38.8°C, and Bhubaneswar 34.2°C. Despite rainfall in several areas, daytime temperatures remain relatively high in parts of the state.
